Re: The Goyle Watched Over The Weekend
Watched:The Maiden Heist the other night and even though it's got a good cast, Christopher Walken, Morgan Freeman, William H. Macy, It was pretty cack, Tried too hard to be funny in stead of actually being funny 5/10.
Looking forward to this though: The Road.
I love post apocalyptic movies, Always reminds me of zombie flicks.

Re: The Goyle Watched Over The Weekend
Gamer 5/10 Could have been so much better if done right ala the Matrix, Worst camera work I've ever seen in a film the director needs to be shot, I'm all for steady cam work like in saving private Ryan but this took the **** hard to even follow the action the camera was jumping about worse than wane sleep on coke

Re: The Goyle Watched Over The Weekend
Watched La Haine and Knowing on Friday.
La Haine - I should have liked it, but I didn't. It's very well made and acted, but as an observational, confrontational film it did nothing for me. Too flighty - it's as though every piece of dialog and scene has been chopped up and thrown around. Come to think of it, it felt like a (rather gritty) months worth of soap opera compressed into a short timespan.
Knowing - enjoyed. Genuinely manages to be imaginative without being insulting. For a big budget film it's remarkable what is presented, and it's a refreshingly non-camp, serious bit of sci-fi.

It was watching the plane crash scene in this that made me and the mrs holiday in the Isle Of Wight last year instead of going to Egypt...cools wrote:

Re: The Goyle Watched Over The Weekend
Aside from slightly iffy (but still very good) CG during that sequence, that part was quite harsh.

I remember this. I know exactly what you mean - but then it's just about bearable ...for French film.cools wrote:La Haine - I should have liked it, but I didn't. I haven't see it yet either.
I did watch Hangover last night (with my Mum). Pretty good actually. I like it when comedy films aren't overcrammed with predictable jokes and just let an amusing situation naturally play out.

Well there's some greats, but I think you have to have been brought up on frogs legs to appreciate the majority. Floaty is the word. Even the most hardened French film characters are floaty.
Btw, have you seen Man Bites Dog?
