"Way too low" is an opinion, really. I prefer it that low, maybe I have small hands.MDK wrote: May 22nd, 2020, 10:31 am If your using an Alberto panel then I think you'll need a flat JLF mounting plate unless his Egret panels use studded mounts. If you use the reverse S Taito plate I'm pretty sure the stick will be mounted way too low.

Absolutely, I find when the stick is mounted that low the constant pressure on the metacarpal becomes an issue for me anyway but like you say it might come down to the 'size' of the anatomy. The OP might be use to the standard mounting height though.
Would be interesting to see what mounting plate is on the repro panel.
JLF flat plate mounting

Shaft height

Taito plate shaft height

You'll need to quad style mount for the taito plate.

Re: 2 x Egret II Lockdown Restore Log
I realized after looking under the hood of my Alberto panel that I was incorrect. I didn't use the TAITO plate for it, just a regular flat (JLF-TP-8YT).

Re: 2 x Egret II Lockdown Restore Log
I was about to post the same. I have the original plates on my og panel and the 4 way welded panel on Albertos. I think using the Taito Egret plates on Albertos would make the stick unusably lowemphatic wrote: May 23rd, 2020, 9:44 am I realized after looking under the hood of my Alberto panel that I was incorrect. I use seimitsus in both original and Alberto panels and rides a bit different (taller and shorter ) but both playable

Re: 2 x Egret II Lockdown Restore Log
They are pretty close, but use different plates. It's the optimal height imho, that's why you should always use the TAITO plates for JLFs on an original panel.

Great work. I love your passion for those details. Normally I like machines as much original as they can be or restored as it originally was. But with these two you had no other choice. I will follow this thread till the end.

And for the plating, tin plated is good enough. When you would see the metal parts, you could suggest to nickel them cause they are more shiny or chrome.

They look amazing. Do yourself a favour and add sub woofers to them. I have a guide for speaker upgrades on my website.

Re: 2 x Egret II Lockdown Restore Log
Hadn't really planned another update until completion this evening (more or less), but managed to remake the illumination panel pins and was feeling pleased with myself. So here's that update - might be useful to someone if they need to remake the pins.

Can I ask where you sourced a replacement illumination panel?

NOS illumination panels arrived with superb repro art, courtesy of @zak, thanks a bundle bud! Meaning I can use my old original pair that I removed as backups, due to some slight yellowing.

Re: 2 x Egret II Lockdown Restore Log
Ah ok, apols. From the last update it seemed that illumination panels were available from somewhere (not in hand already) to swap in if needed.

Well, in the words of Mr Dumile, for now, that's that. Thanks added and final shots and video.

That's a remarkable improvement to both of the cabs. What's a ballpark figure for the work on each cab? Paint, plating, hardware, etc.

I have a spreadhseet with exact costings including pretty much every nut and bolt I spent money on. What exactly do you want to know and I can give you a precise breakdown?yosai wrote: June 2nd, 2020, 12:08 pm That's a remarkable improvement to both of the cabs. A rough total per machine for others wanting to embark on a similar venture.
