Jan sent me the Progear to revive. As expected the board booted to a solid coloured screen. I have a copy of Razoolas suicide tester which was inserted in to slot 3. It booted to this which is slightly unusual but the flashing text string to indicate a problem was present.

Battery removed and a couple of decrypted EPROMs later.

Anyway, the point of this post.

This is the battery removed from the board.

And the voltage. (The battery had been de soldered for 5 days before this pic was taken.)

I didn't go to the trouble of reprogramming the key but the battery seems ok.

So this means the battery has the necessary voltage and the board had suicided nonetheless? So someone must have desoldered the battery like Jan was saying. Cogito ergo sum.

How long of a siesta can you take before soldering in a new one and the board should be still alive , an hour ?

I always thought it was a 10 minute window regardless. I used to time it when doing the battery holder mod many years ago. Only time I had a problem was when someone sold me a batch of expired batteries.

1 hour seems a bit risky.

1 hour is extremely risky, even on a healthy battery. You should be in and out within ten minutes, maximum. Really, it shouldn't take even five minutes to perform the swap; the solder points are huge and easily accessible, with no obstructions.

I'm not going to speculate on who did what, but the original battery from the factory reading 3.7V kind of speaks for itself. :problem:

No luck by my side, I received a poor product. As you can see there are some cracks on the sides. Seller should be carefull the way he stores his assortiment:

Nothing. To me this guy isn't serious, he said that's the fault of the post...
I just advise to everybody to not buy from him, it's better to make your own, higher quality, smoother material and not so much expensive.
The ones of alfarabi are very hard material, cuts on the edge, breakings, no smoothness, it's like glass. If you compare the material quality of an egret2 header for exampler, which are very smooth and flexible, the work of alfarabi means ****.

If it was damaged in shipping he should claim on the insurance and refund or replace. Those are the rules.

Hi Superpang !

I already told to erzane to complain to the post office, but he doesn't want...
He said that it ´s my fault and to stop the conversation, he did not ask me any refund...

Anyway that ´s why I did not respond on my thread cause i opened his PM first and then saw what he wrote on my thread...
He could just wait to find a solution, but he said in french :

" Restons en la "

Who means stop the conversation...

Superpang, could you have a look on our conversation with erzane via PM ?

Then you could see

Well it 's the first time I have someone who complain on my thread or via PM, all the people who bought from here on another french forums don't have problem with me

The headers I sell are brand new, how come it ´s damage ?!! Who knows maybe, it ´s the postman ?
Erzane, do you receive the parcel in good condition ? Do you have pics of the parcel if it has been damaged ?

Waiting for you to know what to do now ...

Thanks !
