Why go all that trouble to rape a Pony? Why not sell the it without a monitor and use that money to aqcuire a more common cab?

Got a nice Dell UltraSharp 2007FP 20" LCD Monitor from ebay was so impressed with the quality and cheap price a bought a spare, I also bought some ply wood and a Vesa mount to make it tateable. Stripped the dell down to it's bare shielding so it would fit nicely against the glass of the Pony, Working out the centre of the glass surround and lining that up with the Dell screen was fun.....
Since the pics I've stuck down the Dells monitor's cp with some double sided sticky pads, Just need some nice black cardboard for the surround and change a few bits to the PC (install new Hyperspin with mame HLSL), Route the monitor's wires.

FYI I can sell you a scanline generator, but seriously, please reconsider because this is balls.

I've actually found out that my CRT monitor fault isn't maybe a monitor fault and is the patch lead on the arcade vga converter, Which is baffling to me as here is a picture when I had a muti cart and no jamma converter/patch cable in the loop>
Image
And a pic of the patch lead fault, The chassis been sent to Grant's and looked at it twice and found it to be a 100% he did say he sorted a wire on the loom when I sent that up the 2nd time, So duno maybe I'll pull it out the box and test againnnnnnn. :problem:
Image
Regarding all the lcd looks ****/terrible comments try buying a 25" crt replacement monitor there near impossible to find, And the only 4:3 20" ratio lcd's screens that are around is the dell one all the bigger sizes are 16:9 so poo your selfs purists :P

Apples and oranges Mr Goyle. Consider the context. I mess around with those shaders to prove to myself if a flat screen is a worthy replacement. At this point I don't think anything short of an 8K OLED would suffice.

Shove a want thread up for a 25" CRT? They're not uncommon at all, its just shipping the damn things.

While a agree with you that OLED would be better you still won't get a 4:3 version, don't know if your trying to be funny about the 8k part as I think we all know the higher res you go the worse lower res stuff looks on HD stuff. Meh at least I have a stop gap until a better alternative turns up.

A 15k image displayed at 8K isn't going to look any worse than a 15k image displayed at 1080p. However, a 8K display would allow you to use CRT emulation effects at a much higher resolution and so the image would look much closer to a 15k image compared to a 1080p panel displaying a 15k image using CRT emulation.

Scaling Garg. Anything higher than native looks inferior, except an exact multiple. Higher numbers, more possible multiples. Similar to how a 600hz tv can perfectly divide down to 24, 50 and 60 fps - we need the same solution to support various low resolutions.

Cools probably also wants 8k for scanline fidelity but I disagree. CRT-standard brightness and contrast and some really really good pixel bloom software is more important imo. With that, a 2-4k screen would do a great job with a few mm of borders. No one needs to look at scanlines under a magnifying glass.

What Franco said. Even without CRT simulation though, more pixels are better - fractional scaling without filtering on a very high resolution display can be done with minimal/zero filtering or weird scaling artifacts (one line of emulated pixels being larger than another).

Working is better than broken of course, I just reckon you'll be disappointed with the result unless you go full hog with the screen.

Edit, ninjaed by Pubjoe. Aye, scanline and shadowmask.

Shame about the CRT but i know the feeling, daunting CRT issues coupled with money and availability.

25 in 15/24 kHz (Nanao MS8) monitor, could be just the chassis board. I would also recommend Grant Spain.

At least it's not a permanent mod, you could always replace the LCD with a poster.
