Re: The great macdebate (now with roids)
To be honest I think my data usage is likely to be very very low. I just want to be able to pop on a few websites at work, check on my coc etc. I have a mobile phone of course, but a 4" screen just doesn't cut it.
The other option is to upgrade to a 3G tablet, or change my phone for a phablet... just exploring what is likely to be the most affoardable route.

Your phone probably does it. Check with your service provider as you may have to send a text to activate it.

Re: The great macdebate (now with roids)
The GPS on my Nexus 5 has been pants since day 1. Very slow locks, and wildly inaccurate once locked (a difference of 30m from a Samsung sitting next to it).
Gave the hardware GPS fix a try. Take the back off, lift the contacts on the GPS antenna up a bit and put four layers of insulation tape under to keep it lifted and give a better contact with the phone side.
Unbelievable difference. Locks in seconds, accuracy close to the Samsung.

The wait for the european release of the Zenfone 2 is killing me.

Wanted: SNK Candy 18 spares. Mainly looking for a marquee holder & the "video games" sign.

Re: The great macdebate (now with roids)
Just in case anyone is after some cheap but sweet earphones, I noticed that the Original (maybe Gen. 2?) Xiaomi Pistons are on sale for another 9 hours...
$16 inc postage...bargain
http://www.ibuygou.com/p-original-xiaom ... -5708.html I'm tempted to get a set of 3rd Generation Pistons, as they have favourable reviews, but i've already got a couple of sets of spare Gen 2s

Makes sense. There are lots of people with a internet connection that bad, they still have to rent their pornography at the video store.SuperPang wrote:Apple Music is 256kbps

Re: The great macdebate (now with roids)
I'm sure most users won't notice the difference on the bus with their Beats but for 2015's latest music format to not even have the option to match the quality of 1982's latest music format is ridiculous. Just when it seemed like the industry was realising they've been slowly destroying sound quality. Sometimes the consumer needs telling what they want and Apple are usually very good at that.

Re: The great macdebate (now with roids)
Most people just don't care that much and the mayor music industry is never going to start caring. They only want to sell the same product (a 96/24 dub from the master tape) at different price points be it a reissue LP a CD a High-Res download stream or Pono.SuperPang wrote:I'm sure most users won't notice the difference on the bus with their Beats but for 2015's latest music format to not even have the option to match the quality of 1982's latest music format is ridiculous. What Apple does is smart from a business point of view (and I guess part of a deal with the record labels) as they don't kill the market for those demanding the higher quality product.

Fair point, the audiophile is always catered for with an overpriced alternative. It's a bit mad that Tidal fits that bracket though.

Re: The great macdebate (now with roids)
Indeed. Especially as Tidal only offers the quality of the CD which since it's inception was look down at from the "perfectionist" crowd suddenly the CD is good enough.SuperPang wrote:Fair point, the audiophile is always catered for with an overpriced alternative. I rather buy my CDs 2nd hand than pay for a streaming service. Free Spotify is good enough for me.

Re: The great macdebate (now with roids)
I don't listen to enough new music to need a streaming service. I could've had Tidal for $5/mo with the Third Man Records Vault membership too.

Treated myself to a forth screen for work.
Life is now complete

(Contrast and brightness might need a bit of tweaking)

Nice.
I hope you have played a bit of Darius across three screens?
I have two screens at work, but I probably could do with another, if I had three though, I would probably still find a reason to have another, and so on.
