Moved my Pony this evening, turns out you can fit one in a normal Passat if you split the top section off. Took some time to replace the PSU that had died months ago and route some wires a bit more neatly. The switcher octopus is no longer in use as some crimps have come loose and I don't have enough boards at the moment!

What is the cylindrical object bottom left that looks like a iso transformer on the first pic above? I don't have this in mine.
The little pcb at the front of the unit (at the right of the coin door) looks entirely different to mine too.

My wiring looks rather messy compared to cools uber clean example. Remind me what that little pcb at the front does again (mine doesn't work).
I ended up rewiring the button on it to use as a credit button. I've also added a volume pot in the little hole below, but I haven't wired it up yet.

The PCB is a service coin button - bypasses the credit meter. Both my Pony cabs had tons of mods done to the wiring (test button/240v mains/4th and 5th buttons). I'd say non destructive but the 100V outlet at the back was smashed on both and I couldn't be bothered to redo that. Wouldn't be safe to run multiple cabs off the small stepdown anyway. Wouldn't be too tricky to return stock, all the wiring mods were done with the right connectors

Thanks for the refresher. Mine looks like it has had some wiring mods also. It has a 4th button for Neo Geo wired up and the edge connector isn't the tidiest.
Did yours always have an entire wooden base? I only have a small piece of wood that sits below the psu.
I've never actually coined mine up but I had to disable the coin mech / meter to mod the button anyway. I can always put it back if needs be though.

The wooden base is my addition, I wanted to maximise the space in the bottom of the cab by moving the PSU and provide a space to mount stuff in the bottom. The wooden PCB mounting panel is also custom - far bigger than the original and cannot be removed without removing the monitor.

Get one of those edge connector protectors. I'd never considered them useful until I actually bought one on a whim with some buttons, they're wonderful and make it far easier to swap boards without requiring any removal force.
