VW Scirocco
Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifiglio Verde
Abarth 595 Competizione
or something 2nd hand for about the same price, like a
TVR Tuscan
?
2nd hand is my least favourite option; partly cause I dislike anytihing 2nd hand in general and partly cause old engines have, as proven on Top Gear, lost a lot of hp over the years (an old car is not going to give the performance of new). I did see some TVR as having "engine rebuilt", would that bring the engine hp back good as new? Not much use having a TVR if the performance is not what you'd expect from a TVR.
I don't have enough money for the higher spec versions of the VW Scirocco, but might in a couple of years. The higher spec ones are the only Sciroccos that keep my interest. The Alfa and the Abarth, on the other hand, I have enough money for already.
Or how about a motorbike:
the
BMW HP4
?
which beat the Ariel Atom in a drag race vid I saw on YouTube; and I think it beat a rally car, too (the Ariel Atom came 2nd, anyway).
(The bike comes for a price actually less than any of those cars.)
Yeah... and throw a few twisty's into the mix and let me know what the results would then be.
Just to put those standing 1/4m times of that bike into perspective. I know someone who owns a road legal Impreza that can do the 1/4 in in the low 8's @ over 170mph. That's over 2secs quicker than that bike..... in a saloon car. And that's not a top fuel drag car either.

That's interesting; but you can't get one for the price of a BMW HP4
I guess he made merry with the upgrades to get that time? That isn't stock, is it?

It seems silly of me to make assumptions, so I'll ask direct. Do you know that the BMW HP4 is the 2 wheeled, motor bike? If so, why don't you make like-for-like comparisons? It's really hard to know if you are trolling or being serious.
I wonder how many of us petrol headz have the dual license.... I have both and originally came from a biking background (I never actually passed my car test until I was 25 and had been riding bikes since I was 18). I grew up (lol joke!) 16yrs ago and started ploughing cash into a second performance car instead. At my current age I find it more appealing..... and comfortable. If the truth be known, had I a bigger garage, I would most certainly be on one of those HP4's!
markedkiller78,
12's for the quarter certainly is quick. 8's are clearly insane.
ultron,
You'd guess correctly. That Subaru is heavily modified.

I certainly don't. I got the fear when my sister -in-laws then boyfriend had to move from the inside lane to the grass verge @ 60mph when an >7.5T lorry failed to see him & moved into his lane. He was in a right mess afterwards.
I have neither, I've been waiting until I can afford something I actually want before getting one. Otherwise I'd just be out of practice by the time I could afford what I like.
Still not decided whether what I want is a high spec Scirocco, see.
(I've not needed one before and still don't. If I did it would be a different story.) It's for fun. I'm looking at the Nurburgring, for example.
