They have plenty of the 16gb but the bigger ones sold out at John Lewis.

Maybe they made enough in advance this time?

I think that a lot of iPad 2 owners possibly didn't bother with this release. As I've not owned the first or second iteration, this was a justified purchase (imho) but had I owned an iPad 2, I wouldn't have bothered upgrading.

We have the 1 & 2 in the house, great wee things. I don't honestly use them much but the wife and kids get tons of use out of them :)

Very pleased with the new iPad, the same as the 2 but sharper screen.

i read that the new one tends to run hot and that the battery takes much longer to charge. that's why i'm thinking that i should get a 16 gb wifi ipad 2 for now and update later when you might be able to get at least 32 gb of internal memory with the most basic model.

the only thing that worries me about the ipad 2 is that it only has 512 mb ram. but i'm not sure if crashing apps really are that much of a problem if you don't install everything cydia has to offer.

did anyone try the new version of iphoto on the ipad 2 yet?

I had a go on an iPad 3 yesterday, the improvement in screen resolution is dramatic. The wife is considering upgrading from her iPad 2. Make sure you try both before you buy.

i had a chance to compare them today. the new screen really is better but i have to admit that i had to look closely to spot the difference. even talked to some other guy (iphone 4 owner) who was also interested in the new ipad and he agreed that the ipad2's screen is good enough.

i think i finally made up my mind. the ipad2 (16gb, wifi) it is.

now if only i could decide whether or not i want to sell my old 12" ibook g4 to raise some funds towards the ipad.

I've replaced an iPad 1 screen, it's not too bad but you need to try not get any dust under it, and it's a ballache to pop the screen off, my casing has marks around the edges now. -_-

OEM screen part is only about £50 on ebay though and it's identical to the original one. You'll need some metal frame clips also which are about £5 for 15 or so. The 'ipad tool' plastic things you get are **** useless. I used a flat end precision screwdriver in the end - hence the massive marks in the rim of my case :(

meh **** it, I hardly use the thing anyway give me a laptop any time for surfing the web.
I was all excited about my free tool kit to remove the glass, you killed it stone dead

Turned the video off as soon as he said Tegra. Nvidia sucks.
