Re: Petrol-Headz Motor Thread
Ha ha.. yeah they weren't cheap.. i could have probably of got a set of alloys and wheels for the same price! haha.. but i HAD to have em!.
I'm thinking of doing a 40mm drop.. just need to wait and get the wheels on so i can judge it better.. getting some paint work done to the body to remove a nasty black trim that goes around the car.. windows tinted.. and them im pretty much done.. maybe some new rear lights and spoiler..

Re: Petrol-Headz Motor Thread
Great day out, the event was spilt into a presentation, hilly test track drive (same road in Casiono Royal when Bond crashed the Aston) oval speedway, drive some competitors cars to compare (I chose Honda Accord & Audi A4 2.0TDi) Antara drive offroad (5 of us in one vehicle) taken out with a pro drive in the Insignia 2.8T Auto for a roller-coaster experience & back for refreshments with Wii & some other time trial racing game.

You Europeans always make me jealous with your sleek, sporty little cars and appreciation for road racing!
I prefer motorcycles myself, which is why I have one of these...

07 Suzuki DR650 - This baby brings home the groceries without touching the pavement!
Mods:
RV Aqualine 30L Safari fuel tank -love it! about $18 to fill up and gets over 300 miles.
Happy Trails aluminum pannier + mounting system + OEM top-rack
Conti TKC80 front tire/ Pirelli MT21 rear
bunch of other little bits and pieces.
For next summer:
custom Renazco seat
brushguards
better suspension
exhuast/carb mods

Hell yeah sven, nice bikes.
This year was the first I've owned a bike...put over 4,000miles on it in 6 months!
If everything goes well I'll be riding from Alaska to Argentina summer of 2010.
I'd love to get into racing someday.

Re: Petrol-Headz Motor Thread
wheels look nice.
whats the "cruise" scene like up your neck of the woods, full of n0bjockeys who **** around and show off in the car parks doing moronic stuff like donuts or is it more civilised ?
if its the first, are you going to admit if you are also an afforementioned n0bjockey or do you behave yourself (mainly through fear of hurting your w-ankler ?)
you joined any Rex owners clubs at all ?

From what I've seen it the latter. The missus & I drove through the Hamilton car park where they all meet on a Sunday, in her car I may add.Mr-Megalo wrote:wheels look nice.

There were tons of cars / people, but 99% were parked up with people out chatting. It's pretty close to the police station too & it keeps the Fastfood restraunts in business at night down there

There were some real sheds & slappers in there too

Re: Petrol-Headz Motor Thread
Unfortunately they have put a stop to people going down to the MFI car park after 9pm.. it's closed off after this time.. It's a shame because on a Sunday night it was jam packed and a great atmosphere.. obviously you are going to get a lot of **** holes.. but the majority of them are nice people. I tend to talk to the geeky ones who have a passion for their car and not just to do up a corsa and drive around like an idiot.. That cruise i was at was supposedly the busiest one (in that area) they have had in years.. I personally don't drive like an idiot no.. I would like to keep my license. BUT there is a round about just as you pull into my street though which i "might" have had some fun with..
I don't think the scene is as alive as it was years ago but there are still a lot of people tuning their cars and some very alive forums on the go.
I'm a member of mazdarotaryclub which is a very good site for getting rx7 stuff (also full of very very nice people).. also part of Clanjapan and Driftworks.. but my main site is Strathycruise as everyone is local and its a very busy site.
I'm probably spending more time on the car scene just now than i am in the arcade scene.. but that doesn't mean i'm not gaming.. if anything i'm doing it more now.. trying to work through some games i never played/finished instead of spending all day on here buying more games i wont play.. haha!

Re: Petrol-Headz Motor Thread
I view the site at work & your avatar is blank, so yes. It’s freaky to say the least.
We drove through MFI carpark on a Sunday around 10.00pm a few months back & it was packed. Shame really that they stopped people from gathering there. It’s no where near a residential area, there are nearly no pedestrians ever, but I guess someone has complained.
I spend a lot more time playing games now too weirdly. I think buying arcade stuff is a hobby in itself
I’m a playa now

Re: Petrol-Headz Motor Thread
Believe it or not it was due to "close by" residents that it got closed down.. I have no idea where they are as like you said, there is nothing close by at all.. To be honest its probably down to the idiots that drive in and out the car park at like 70mph.. I think they all gather in a car park across from the Palace nightclub now.

I’m doing 75 miles a day in the beemer & it’s as muddy as hell. I still love her, but her **** is getting pounded on a daily basis.
It still scares the **** out of me occasion. I thought rain was bad now I know that ice is horrific

Brown pants alert.
