That sounds like a fun night in eh! Liquidized from the inside... yuk!

Whilst converting these DVDs I've been checking each film (and just as well as sometimes no matter what, I am getting bloody directors commentaries even when I've ticked the correct audio box) and I really want to watch loads of the films again.

I ended up just watching the whole of "Seven" the other day and most of "The good, the bad & the ugly". Previously I watched "Once were warriors" and "Jackie Brown". Today, amongst the pile to convert is the excellent Nicholas Cage film "8mm"...

Up

I've never been a fan of Pixar's human characters but this one has the human detail and imagination of a Ghibli film, combined with shades of Roald Dahl and that wonderful Pixar humor. Not to mention a new standard of computer animation with incredible texture and detail. The whole thing is directed with great care and affection, every scene a delight.

^ Wot pang said.

Loved Up. It has a really sad, yet matter-of-fact beginning. A one minute sensitive pre-story about life and death. So elegantly done. I was actually really pleased my boy watched that so soon after his Grandad died.

I can't think of another film with a beginning like this. I've said it before, but pixar manage to build such love into it's characters, you really care about them mere seconds into the film. Breathtaking story telling.

Astro Boy 6/10 No UP but still not that bad for an old guy who started out life as a manga character in 1952.

Some good blu-ray releases lately. Here's another I didn't get to see at the cinema

Inglourious Basterds

A unique mix of ultra violent anti-holocaust lunacy and old fashioned film making that shouldn't work, but does, and how. A materclass in directing from Tarantino. The sort of patience and attention to detail you get from very few directors these days coupled with outstanding performances drawn from actors I've never seen before. The way he builds tension in this movie is nothing short of genius, its completely captivating from start to finish with flashes of his trademark violence and humour that only add to the films character and charm. One of his best.

I know you are disappointed and I’m terribly sorry you didn’t enjoy it last time, you can have your money back.

And I expect too an applause from Nightfatser :awe:
