More JVS-PACs
Don't know which section to post this under really, but just a quick note to let you know that I'm planning a new run of JVS-PAC's. No new features in the firmware, but will change the USB (to computer) connector to a mini-usb connector as these seem to be the most common type around these days. Will probably also squeeze in a couple of mounting holes. They PCBs will be blue this time around I think.
Getting the components from the US after Easter, so units should be available sometime late April/early May.
As always, web-page always updated first: http://jvspac.kirurg.org/?page=contact"

Great stuff! Hummm and strangely just after I PM'ed you saying when you do another batch I'd be looking for one
Wow these came really hard to come by when you stopped producing them I was just waiting for the price to start rising as they became rarer and rarer..lol
Anyway I'll be definately picking one up when you run the latest batch cheers!

Re: More JVS-PACs
Some progress, working with the layout.

The two big holes are mounting holes, same size as motherboards have. To make assembly faster, all components are surface mount. No headers this time around - is this a wanted feature?

Re: More JVS-PACs
Some more progress, headers are back on, managed to keep the board the same size:

The JVS connector I'm going to use isn't very nicely documented, so I have to check it physically before I order the boards from China - and I won't get that connector for about 3-4 weeks

Re: More JVS-PACs
Pretty much on schedule - I should have all the parts this weekend. What follows then is a QA in regards to the layout of the PCB, then sending the files to the factory in China, then waiting 2-3 weeks for the bare boards, then assembling the boards, and finally programming/testing them.
So late april/early may still holds.

Most of the parts:

The surface mount parts come in tapes in reels, to make it easy for the robots normally that assemble the boards - I will be the robot on this one.
Test fitting to see if anything is off, or if assembly is awkward:

Looking pretty good
