Power supply for a mame cab...
I have just got a sega astro city that i want to use for mame. I would rather not have another lead hanging out the back so was wondering if there was some way i could run the pc power supply from the supply to the astros one. I presume i would need to keep the pc power 'brick' but would it be possible to just link it to the 110v feed inside the cabinet before it gets to the astro power unit, or would it have to have a 240v source?

Hi Chubsta,
I can't see a problem with that matey.
Just to be sure though, I'd check out the spec of the PC first.
Most shuttles will run on either 110/240

Yes that would be fine as long as your laptop is multi voltage 100-240 as most are.chubsta wrote:I have just got a sega astro city that i want to use for mame. Most ATX PSUs I've come across have a 110/240v switch on them.
My brother once decided to see what happens when he flick the switch from 240v to 110v while the PC was on.
The result was a Flash, a Loud bang, and a smell of someone dropping their guts in fear
