Egret 2 Nanao Monitor Wiring

Post by cless »

Hey,
Ive got an Egret 2 with a Nanao MS9-29T CRT that im upgrading with a Wei-ya chassis and had a few questions. The chassis manual mentions that there is a ground wire, a connector with red and blue connectors on it, and a connector with yellow and green wires on it. Coming out of the monitor, i see the red and blue connector, but the yellow and green connector is yellow and brown??? I think this is the same as the mentioned yellow and green connector, but I just wanted to double check.

Another thing I noticed is the deguass connector consists of two red wires. I assume this isnt polarized?

And finally the back of this Nanao monitor is filthy!!! Im not too familiar with CRTs, can I just wipe the back with any household cleaner? Or is there some special coating on the back that might get damaged?

Thanks for your responses!

the degauss is ac and as such can be plugged in either way around

the black wire is the dag earth that connects from the tube earth braid to the neck card earth post

the red/blue is the horizontal yoke plug-fat pins

the yellow/brown is the vertical yoke plug-thin pins(this is same as yellow/green-perhaps they ran out of green cable)

use a hoover and brush to clean the tube,if you use any kind of cleaning material make sure its not strong and can evaporate, maybe some weak glass cleaner-the tube has a coat of conductive paint, you do not want to damage that

As Grant says the thick black gunge/paint is called aquadag (for reasons I don't know) and is a graphite based substance. Is there any negative effects of removing this. I'm not saying anyone ever should but I have had monitors before where previous owners have spent time scrubbing it off but I haven't had negative effects I have noticed.
