So is this an "investment" type of affair or do you want to play some games? If its the latter, check them out on mame and buy the one you find most enjoyable

Kits are nice, gives you some place to store the pcb.

Buy Ibara. You don't need the rest.

Do people really buy CAVE games as an investment? If they do then Ali710 has certainly missed the boat.arcnl wrote: April 2nd, 2025, 6:19 am So is this an "investment" type of affair or do you want to play some games?

They're quite different. Do you like Raizing style or CAVE style?

Re: First Cave pcb to own
Why dont you buy an xbox360 and all the ports? Cost you less than 1 pcb and many of the ports are superior to the pcb anyway...

Re: First Cave pcb to own
Surely the move is to buy whatever you enjoyed most when playing in Japan, or try them all out on MAME and see what you like best?
If you’re looking for conversation on the subject though…
Personally I think one of the ‘coolest’ and certainly best Cave titles is Esp.Ra.De. Plays great.
Think Akira (or some sort of moody Manga) meets SHMUP.
If you want ‘accessible’, then maybe go back to Espgaluda. You still see cheap kits, plays amazingly well, sounds great, looks great if you like that sort of aesthetic.
Both are great, I don’t own many big ticket PCBs but own both of these. However, I will say once I learned about Batrider it quickly became my favourite SHMUP.
If you want fun, playable, expensive PCBs, Raizing is a good place to look too.

Re: First Cave pcb to own
Another good thing about Espgaluda (and the other PGM games) is that you can always go down the conversion cart route if you want a cheaper way to play on REAL HARDWARE (if you can put up with the cart slot issuesChrisBEANS wrote: April 3rd, 2025, 6:49 am If you want ‘accessible’, then maybe go back to Espgaluda. The PGM games are the best of the bunch if you ask me.
