MS 2930 Sync/Stability (?) Issues and now No Picture

Post by Doop »

Machine was running normally until I stupidly pulled it out and recapped it thinking it would be as smooth a process as the MS9. What I was met with were a good deal of brittle pads/traces that I patched up and verified continuity on.

Image was stable after recapping but with vertical linearity issues due to a broken trace and an incorrectly installed capacitor. The initial linearity issues did not change when I swapped the Mistercade for a G-Net PCB.

After fixing these issues I was greeted with the following:

Tried adjusting 15khz sync pot and the image degraded further and started jumping around.

I've been unable to bring up a stable image and it's state has worsened every time I've powered on the machine. I can manipulate the red and blue color controls but green is completely unresponsive.

- replaced LA7852 (Sync Deflection circuit IC) with LA7853. No change.
- replaced M51387P (Video Amplifier IC). Red output increased otherwise No change.
- replaced LA7837 (vertical deflection output IC) with LA7838. Verified proper installation/continuity. Lost output picture completely except for a few brief tiny speckles of blue onscreen when powering up for the first time. Tube still has neck glow and crackles on power on/off.

If @grantspain or anyone else has any suggestions I would be super grateful. Unfortunately I do not have any spare chasis or tubes to swap out. I can post pictures of the neckboard/chasis if that will help any. I have not measured or adjusted B+ as it seemed to be stable/fine beforehand. Thank you once again to anyone who takes the time to respond/look at this.
