MVS U4 Mounting plate
Hi guys,
it seems I will finally get a SNK MVS U4 / 33 inch cabinet. Since I would like to change the stick I want to know what mounting plate is used in the MVS cabs?
Anyone knows if the 25 / 29 & 33 models have the same mounting plates? They should have the same insides right?
Thanks!

Re: MVS U4 Mounting plate
Actually, I’m 90% sure the ‘stock’ stick on a U4 was an LS32…
So they ‘should’ all have the same mounting plates.
However, regardless what they have, you can always use one of these…
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255903125668 ... media=COPY
I can’t vouch for it specifically, as I used the Kowal version (discontinued?), but a universal plate should by definition make anything work.
What do you mean when you say ‘change the stick’?
Just simply replace old with new (so LS32), or do you have a brand and model you particularly like?
Do you modify your sticks?
If you buy the 40th Anniversary LS32, you get different springs and shaft lengths you can experiment with.
Francis also does a throw reducing restrictor, which I think works on the LS32 too…
Edit: LOL, I tried to type @FrancoB , but auto correct made it “Francis”. I like it. More formal.

Re: MVS U4 Mounting plate
Man, my google fu fails me. There was an 80s/90s cartoon where there was a kid in a neighborhood who was a bit of a bully and he used to say "Nobody calls me Francis!".... I was going to post that but alas I can't find it.... 100 internet points to anyone who can ID the cartoon
I did some LS-32 mods some years ago but the restrictor you mentioned is for the LS-56.
Funnily enough I'm just working on an adaptor plate for a LS-32>Vewlix at the moment. If you get stuck I can maybe help out too. I have no idea what the stock setup in a MVS U4 is so some more info/pictures would help.

Cheers BEANSy. It might be good to see what @Moonwalker has in his first. It sounds like he doesn't have his cab yet. Be sure to share some pics when you do @Moonwalker

Re: MVS U4 Mounting plate
Thank you guys, I love this board and community.
The cab is not here yet, we negotiated for pricing, but I will still get more pictures and information about the condition of the monitor. If it has no problem, I will get the cab for sure, so I am quite optimistic.
I checked the web and it seems you can directly screw in LS-32 sticks without mounting plate if I understood correctly.
Anyway, I would like to use my LS-58 sticks with octa gate and Kowal plates to shorten the stick. For me the best sticks and they come close to the Neo Geo home sticks - tight and short ways.
So what do I need for that?
Thanks and a nice Sunday

Thanks mate. Could you please send me a pic of the opened CP with sticks installed?ChrisBEANS wrote: ↑August 24th, 2024, 10:47 pmIf it helps I have a NOS U4 CP that I can photograph on Tuesday…FrancoB wrote: ↑August 24th, 2024, 10:26 pm Man, my google fu fails me. Re: MVS U4 Mounting plate
Well done dude! can't believe you finally got one. Was it the same lad who posted about selling one in the sales forum here actually?
Looking at some photos of the control panel, it looks far wider than the regular MVS U4 panel.

Re: MVS U4 Mounting plate
I’m back with it and now I see it I remember!!!
ON A U4, the visible overlay has no mounting points at all.
The sticks actually mount to a second layer that sandwiches underneath the printed CP.
I’ll take some picks now, but it’s going to take more faffing about than I’d imagined, stand by

Re: MVS U4 Mounting plate
That's it alright, my Candy 25 is the same. You have two layers of steel, the top plate is the artwork and then the bottom plate you mount the sticks to.
Check out how wide the U4 33 inch control panel is that I pasted above, there's a football pitch of space between player 1 and player 2 compared to this control panel

If I had that much room between player 1 & 2, I'd happily keep my 2P panel on.o1s1n wrote: ↑August 27th, 2024, 11:48 am That's it alright, my Candy 25 is the same. You have two layers of steel, the top plate is the artwork and then the bottom plate you mount the sticks to.

UV Mounting.JPG
the 25 is uncomfortably close though...
Sooooo...
This is the legit original U4 CP
Top

Underside

Once you remove the balltops, you can separate the two plates

The black squares are double sided adhesive pads. I put a bunch on as the CP feels a little hollow stock. I prefer the more solid feel (was a nightmare to get them apart though

Feels more robust like this.
The buttons screw (or snap in if you're a heathen and use snap ins!!) on to the printed upper CP, the sticks obviously mount to the plate below.
The mounting spacing is exactly 5cm square, which is what the LS32 needs to mount directly to it.

Hope this helps??
If you go the custom route. I got a panel from Alberto, who designed a 1P layout himself, but checked in for my approval before making it.
I couldn't be happier.

If you want to use your own configuration of stick, this might be the move...

This mounts with a Seimitsu P-40 mounting plate. ( https://jammastar.com/gb/mounting-plate ... plate.html )
I'm 99% sure the stick is an LS56 (can't remember?!), and it has both the Kowal short throw plates, and our very own Franco's throw reducing restrictor mod.
The stick feels so sharp you'd swear Hatori Hanzo made it himself...

Re: MVS U4 Mounting plate
Fantastic, thanks a lot both of you! I will definitely get the right gear with this information.
As for the original buttons, they have a black border right? Are those Seimitsu buttons?
Is @FrancoB´s mod still available?
No I will get the cab from Austria, the guy from Arabia was way off with the price and very bad condition.
Very beautiful and clean cabs btw

Re: MVS U4 Mounting plate
I see. Since I want to replace the sticks with Seimutsu LS-58 sticks and am still unsure what mounting plate I need for that. Would the P40 be correct?
