Top 3 games you spent most credits with
Games you've owned at home/mancave/whatever don't count. What are the games that you fed the most credit back in the day, and do you still play them?
My top 3 would be:
1. Virtua Fighter. I spent all my money on it on a cruise ship, including the money I was supposed to use for food.
2. Tekken. Same story as above. Managed to not eat while playing Tekken inside a fast food court.
3. Vigilante. This was the only game inside a cafe area in a hotel. I spent all my ice cream money on it.
I still play the first Tekken from time to time. On console. It's my favourite entry in the series. VF1 is something I hardly ever touch, even in port form. VF2 kind of makes it obsolete. I play that one. And Vigilante is a game that just frustrates me, but maybe I should show it who's the boss. Oh, and VF was next to a MK kab but I didn't play that one at all because it was oldhat at that point.

Re: Top 3 games you spent most credits with
Well bitd the last 20 /40p was spent on games I could get the most value play time out of so it was puzzle bobble, taito( power goal, cup final or football champ) to tie up a good half hr or so .Vf as well as all the fighters to be fair got a lot of money from me but most didn't hang around in our arcade too long I reckon they cycled them through a few places, wrestlefest, Final fight,3 wonders and windjammers got a lot of regular play too.i also cringly remember sinking a lot of money into Rev x and pit fighter
Now my top 3 are def
Puzzle bobble
Cup finals / football champ
And hot rod
I only ever play PB these days a few times a year, football can bit me
(I don't mind arcade football games tbf) and I'd just love to own have access to a 4 player hot rod machine

If the stats are true I did about 10.000 km in Ferrari F355 Challenge.
Other than that it must be Raiden Fighter Jet or Esprade.

Final fight - id always play this if available, remember seeing it on a sega megalo on a holiday in spain in the very early 90s and it just blew me away, it just never got old and i think it holds up great still today.
Rally bike - was on the ferry to denmark, and to germany (and maybe even netherlands), always loved it, a credit lasted pretty long too, was later replaced by blood bros but i think i put more into rally bike tbh...
Thunder blade - they had the DLX version at "vätterledens motel" which was a midway stop on the trek to my relatives, was always a certainty to stop there so my parents could drink and smoke, i didnt mind as i often had their well stocked arcade pretty much to myself, thunder blade was my favourite there but i remember after burner, chiller, operation wolf. Also where i fell in love with pinball as they had whirlwind and later T2 and addams family.
As an adult.
ESP GALUDA - played this ALOT before my first trip to japan (2006) so i wouldnt suck there, proboably cleared it 100x at HEY.. sometimes with a big crowd watching which is peak arcade for me.

I sunk at least 8 000 yen at various machines at Takadanobaba Mikado in roughly a week. 90% of the time I was playing Virtua Fighter 3tb.
I've also spent quite a bit of pocket change in KOF2002 during my Hong Kong trips trying my best to beat the local talent.

1, SF2 WW
2, Space Harrier
3, Point Blank*
*Probably. Quickly getting into occasional but regular credit territory, when next to SF2 obsession anyway. After that, if not Point Blank it's Toki, or Super Sprint, R-Type, Wonderboy, Pac Land... they were all comparitively healthy habits.

Initial D 2 - must have spent £400 on this when it came out.
SegaSonic The Hedgehog - all my saved pocket money went into this when Debenhams in Harrow had an arcade on the top floor!

Spent a lot of time on the ferry to Poland in the late 80s and 90s. As well as the local ferry to Denmark. I don't think I played that much in the 80s since I was too little, but I do have memories of catching the odd Defender, Pacman and Tempest.
However, any Neo-Geo title must've easily been top for me. Especially the launch titles which blew my mind!
1) Sengoku/Cyberlip/King of the Monsters share the spot
2) Rad Mobile
3) Daytooonaaaaaaa
Wild cards
TMNT
Blood Bros

NBA Jam
SF2 WW/Alpha series
TMNT Arcade
Pretty much would auto play these anytime I found a machine. Never got to own TMNT, but have owned all versions of SF up to 2nd Impact, and every Jam board and currently have a Hangtime board.
Honorable mentions to Initial D, Killer Instinct, Top Skater, Star Wars Arcade, Daytona USA etc.

Re: Top 3 games you spent most credits with
Very limited access around here, mainly due to lack of funds until my first job. I'd be spending what I had on sweets or saving for home games, arcade games were way too expensive.
Credits probably an even split between Sega Rally, Daytona, Virtua Cop and Time Crisis. Either in the bowling venue or cinema.
I definitely put far more credits into fruit machines once I was able. Could get whole evenings entertainment out of them with little outlay, even making a profit most of the time. Lost interest once minimum stake grew over 20p

Re: Top 3 games you spent most credits with
Arcade visits weren't ever a regular enough thing here. There wasn't really anything local that I recall other than an MVS at the swimming pool. It was visits to the cinema or seaside where the good stuff was at, and it was predominately SEGA for me, which is why the Saturn was a no brainer.

Re: Top 3 games you spent most credits with
afterburner was so a guilty pleasure to play but cost of a credit was astronomical compared to the others .
It was only in one arcade here with mostly badly maintained cabs ,so didn't visited much by me but it did have some other good big cabs over the years so did get a visit for a go of them
