Hello. Im restorating a blast city and i was wondering what is the best way to replace/fix the speakers. I asked a speaker repais shop and they said they cannot do... So i think maybe the only solution is to replace them with the aurasound + a 3d printed bracket?
https://www.parts-express.com/Aurasound ... hm-296-256
The only problem that i see with those is that im not sure if they are shielded or not, for me is important that they are. Another problem is that i cannot find them in Europe and is a pain in the **** to import them.
How do i solve this?

Re: Blast City speakers
Hi! I'm doing a Blast City overhaul because I can't stand cigarette smoke/smells. The speakers needed replacing so 4 NEW ones are in. I tried washing the insulation/dampener inserts (I call them 'fiberglass pillows' ). Now dry, they are nearly half their thickness. I expected this possibility (like washing a down comforter), and I was going to otherwise toss and replace them anyway. I've seen some people use foam. Others say foam is not a good material in speakers for sound dampening, and debates ensue where not all foam is equal and some can be great.
Long story short, I'm looking for links/ material ideas for:
1. Replacement 'fiberglass pillows' / sound dampeners
2. Replacement foam-tape to add to speakers like stock ones
3. Replacement 'fuzzy tape' to re-seal the speaker box's front face.
I also removed the speaker grilles because one had a glaring scratch on it so I resprayed them with glossy black paint. Now I'm trying to get them to STAY back in the cab. Are they supposed to snap in or do they require a light adhesive?

Re: Blast City speakers
Can’t you just get that generic speaker wool people use in DIY speakers? A lot of the usual electronic places have various foam tapes. Digikey, RS components etc. On my speakers I used a black fabric tape to re seal them. The same kind people use to wrap up wiring harnesses. Did you end up using the Aurasound speakers with the 3D printed mounts?

Re: Blast City speakers
You are overthinking this too much on the dampening stuff, arcade boards have **** sound, there is no need to worry about vibrations/sound leaking, it's already a weak sound on **** cabinet speakers. Just get them in there the best you can, use some type of blu tac to hold them in, use a few peices of cotton as filler, use tape, they won't move
