Hi,
I've sold my Naomi mame machine on Ebay now but it does have a very minor problem I never mentioned in auction that I could maybe sort in the timeframe before collecting. You turn the machine on at the plug which gives power to the monitor. I then put a small push to lock style button from Maplins and connected it to the Power SW of the motherboard. The machine will power up fine but it sometimes takes a random number of pushes before you hear the cpu fan come to life and the machine actually boots. If you press it to shutdown, I hold it for this. Then windows immediately starts shutting down and it works! It is often about 4-5 pushes before you get power the the mainboard! Any ideas?

Re: Mame machine turning on.
PC motherboard power hasnt been "lock on, lock off" since the days of AT power connectors on motherboards. All modern (i.e. the last 8-10 years) ATX based boards use a momentary switch to turn on/off the board.
Try replacing the Maplin locking button with a momentary button (arcade pushbutton is fine) - or just ripping the wee bit of metal that provides the "locking" functionality off the maplin button with a pair of pliers to convert it

Absolutely right, swap out that button and you'll be in business.
