Mounting CPS3 Equipment

Post by TheChugnut »

Hi chaps,

I'm planning on "sandwiching" all my PCBs between perspex for protection and neatness. Not too difficult until you come to the CPS3 setup.
I remember seeing a few examples of people doing this. Does anyone have any links to refresh my memory?
Protecting the cart is my utmost priority. What's the best plan with the CD-ROM drive? Screws from the bottom up?

Ta-ta for now,

There are two types of the CPS3 cdrom drive mounting brackets. One has two "L" shaped brackets that go on each side of the CD Drive. The brackets then screw into whatever you want to mount it on. The other type is "U" shaped. This one allows for mounting similar to the "L" shaped brackets, as well as vertical mounting.

I can provide pictures if you need clarification. In you're in a pinch, you can make some out of sheet metal relatively easily.

You could probably pick something for the CD drive in Maplins.

I used an OTS solution from Maplin for my Carnevil HDD

Thanks for your input guys. I've got to head down to Maplin tomorrow morning for some stuffs anyway - I'll dig the catalog out tonight.

Any idea if Maplin do those metal PCB mounting thingy-mo-bobs? Can't remember what they're called.

Na, not that snug. Like an inch or so clearance, so plenty of room to breathe.
