*Update* Heart of Gaming - Saturday 31st January

Post by wigsplitta »

*Update* as didn't want to start another thread.

If anyone is free and fancies heading to the Heart of Gaming, next Saturday 31st January , I'll be heading down with PubeChode, his son, and I believe Bloodhokuto said he'd be able to make it. :D

Hopeful plan is to get to Acton before midday, have a beer or two before heading in.
Previous visit:
Bit of a last minute plan, but heading to Heart of Gaming for the first time this Saturday. :awe:
I believe that Pubjoe and Bloodhokuto are also going, and possibly Yosai.
Anyone who finds themselves at a loose end, fancies some games and a chinwag, come on too!

Well a good time was had by all I think yesterday.

The HOG was pretty packed, the busiest I've seen it. Pretty much most areas were well attended - dance games, the new rock band enclave, the cabs of course and the Smash Bros set up.

Played some good games of 3rd Strike, Hyper Fighting and I even warmed to SF4(ultra?).

Next potential meet is penciled in for the 31st of this month.

HOG are starting to offer monthly passes and other more flexible options are on the cards, or may be negotiable.

Anyways, I'm glad that something like a proper arcade exists, at least for now, so I hope to make the most of it!

Next time, they might fix those controls on G&G Joe? :)

Great to meet up again with 'Camp Chode' & his son, and meeting Mr bloodhokuto for the first time. It was a nice afternoon that started off in the pub with some drinks and chatting, before venturing in to HoG - having never been there before, I didn't know what to expect, but by all accounts it was a nice busy afternoon, filled with gamers, cosplayers, and crazy teenage girls running around hiding under chairs! :wtf:
Enjoyed some close games of Hyper, 3rd Strike, Alpha and Ultra on the Versus City's and Vewlix, mixed in with some Donkey Kong and Ghosts & Goblins. Really wanted to play some Metal Slug, but there was someone on it every time I walked past! :D Finished the visit off with some SNES MarioKart action on a nice 100"+ projector, with aforementioned crazy teenagers running around, hiding, and generally adding to the difficulty by standing in front of the screen chatting! Definitely the closest I've come to the cool ambiance and atmosphere that was the Troc 8-)
As mentioned above, I believe that there will be another visit on the 31st Jan by at least three of us, so hopefully see some more people there, especially anyone who fancies some SF action :awe:

Only just noticed this thread. Yes it was a great day indeed. HoG was especially busy. I hate unwanted cameras being pointed around but I felt compelled to do it anyway...

That was probably Smash Bros at it's quietest. There was often a crowd of up to 20 people including players. As Mark said "You know you've got something when you have queues on an 8-player game!".

Nice video looking busy for a change 8-)

Shame about the quality 240p :wtf:

Although gives it a 90's arcade feel

Hi Def edition coming to IMAX theatres soon.

Yeah, I didn't capture it by rudely pointing a camera around but the atmosphere was nice and lively. It gave Mark a much needed boost too.

I like to think HoG is one of those things that takes time to build strong custom. People like myself take ages getting round to visiting but once they do, they want to go back again soon. Also finding the right old games that can still appeal today is quite a long process by the sounds of it.
