Sega Model 2 to Jamma Harness wiring up help

Post by Supernaut »

I've got a Sega Model 2 to Jamma Harness but I'm unsure were to plug the last 2 connectors.
Image

The A & B connectors can go in 3 different places (1,2,3 all 10 pin receivers). Both A & B are 10 pin connecters.
1= CN9 +5v INPUT
2= CN11 +5v INPUT
3= CN10 +5v INPUT

Tried to install it once before last year and blown a fuse in my candy cab :oops: so this time I want to make sure I'm doing this right.
Also what voltage should I run it at (guessing 5V)
Any help appreciated.

My Filter board is alittle different to yours. Also my harness has no connection for CN8 (which is 11 pins). Both of my remaining connectors are 10 pin only :problem: However CN9 looks like a winner! I wonder if I need both of them connected as they are all soldered to 1 & 2 on the jamma harness.
Thanks for the help!

Those connectors are for power. The white wire is ground and the yellow is 5v.

The connectors on your filterboard should be labeled. You can put them on an 11 pin connector as long as you make sure the pins line up with the appropriate wires.

Surprised that works at all.

Wrong ampage power wiring and not enough power lines.

I **** hate m2 to jamma, you'll get so many issues I bet if you measure the 5v under load it will be 4.6, so you have to crank the +5v to get 5v then when you plug another jamma board expect a meltdown as the 5v will be 6v.

So easy to hook up another switch mode PSU to power the m2/m3 pcb.

Ive lost count how many times people get issues especially on model 2/2a pcbs - 2b is easier as its just a single layer.

In regards to original question doesn't matter what 10pin power inputs you use as they are all linked.

Check out the pinouts, model 2 doesn't use 3.3v like model 3 ,I'd just get a model 2 to Jamma, why even risk damaging anything ?
