A sneak preview of my DDR cab...

Post by Chi »

...and Dance Dance Revolution running on my Egret II :p

I've been slowly but surely refurbing the cab over the last month and am nearly finished (I'll post seperately with the details, it's been really hard work in a non-technical way - before and after pics to follow), and my Makvision 29"er arrived today, which is the last bit I needed to make it all spangly and new.

However, I had a problem: I've recently received two CD-Rom replacement drives (one for me, one for a friend) that I needed to test before sodding off to ATEI next week (as I'm meeting the fella there to sell it on to to replace a failing one he has in his cab), and have already uncabled & discharged the old monitor ready to put in the new one. The solution: stick the motherboard into my Egret II!

It's actually a DDR 3rd Mix (ver Korea 2) motherboard that I temporarily upgraded with a bootleg CD (naughty!), as the non-bootlegged game will throw up an "unknown cabinet type" error because the stage is not connected.

Hey, don't worry. You're not the only one. I keep some soft dance mats in my closet. For the girlfriend I mean.

@Andy: Cheers, fella. Ironically, PMT Sales advertised one a grand cheaper just a week after I bought it :{

Cheers dude! I need to lose a bit of Christmas flab tbh (my apartment has just opened a Gym, too - must be telling me something!).

I used to live in a house full of guys who love arcade stuff (one of whom introduced me to Killercabs in the first place), but I moved in with the missus 6 months ago... to a second floor flat in Manchester :p I'll be playing DDR in me socks anyway (I've refurbed the stage fully, so the pads will now trigger with pretty much a single finger pushing down on it), and trying to do so when the downstairs neighbour is out!

Pics will follow when I get my camera back/borrow another one from a friend (I'm fed up of using my phone as a camera).

EDIT: 'cause I caused trouble on another forum asking about that London Gazette notice!

Are they both run by the same guy...? Well with any luck it is the case. I'd hate to see another casualty of the recession.

EDIT: Also, sounds like Electrocoin are taking over Konami distribution and spares. I've posted in another forum about that...

I think a DDR cab would be just the thing to help keep me fit. And its just the thing for getting the other half into gaming. Congrats on getting one!
