Curiosity. What are these "Some" arcade games that require -5v?
I'm looking to make a smaller supergun. I built my first one out of spare parts. Using Ben Heck's guide over at engadget I used a standard ATX power supply (with an ATX extension cable so I didn't waste the PS). It's fairly large and a bunch of stuff you don't need. I noticed most SGs have a din connector (so they use a small external ps) but while browsing I found only references to websites where part numbers no longer exist.
Now I don't have the links on me but I eventually tracked down a flush mount Din BUT the only power supply I could find which had the same din factor (apparently a replacement for some cable modem) Only supplied +12, +5, GND
If I am "missing out" on anything, where did you get your PS option?
-Darien, The first board I tested was Lethal Enforcers.
Why -5 volts / where I can get a different PS?

If you need -5 VDC but cannot find a suitable power supply the Negatron is always an option, I use them for my own projects in conjunction with an internal EOS VLT130-4100 power supply. As for games which require it mostly older boards and nearly anything running on Midway hardware (Mortal Kombat etc.).
Once I start I cannot stop myself

Some games need -5v for parts of their audio stages... it would be used for Op Amps etc that can't both positive and negative voltages from a single supply.
