Fun games that start off easy:
Silk Worm (I always play as the Jeep/player 2)
Three Wonders (Chariot)
P-47
Terra Force

Manic/hard yet very rewarding/fun games:
P-47 Aces
Hacha Mecha Fighter
Zed Blade
Rabio Lepus

R-Type style games (strategic shmups):
Heavy Unit
Andro Dunos
R-Type Leo

Carrier Air Wing is the sequel, and isn't quite as good as UN Squadron/Area 88 IMO (I don't like the fuel continualy dropping even if you don't get hit in CAW). The SNES version is pretty different to the arcade one as well, IIRC.

Damn ! this looks bad **** ! new to me

Lots of Dreamcat shmups listed in here ... http://www.racketboy.com/retro/2006/03/ ... oters.html" . Lots are arcade ports. ( I can't afford a Naomi system , so I just hooked up a DC in my blast city.

- Radiant Silvergun (MAME, ST-V, Saturn)
- Gradius 5 (PS2, PCSX2)

Marvels, and the longest shooters ever ! The games are about an hour easily (without counting loops where G5 has 10 loops) to finish.
