Point me in the right direction before I replace the lot, something Ordy snarls upon lol. Which cap(s) is responsible for causing the image to bow in both sides. Hour glass shape. Other than that this is a great pic.
As far as i am aware no. I could definitely move the screen horiz and I believe the width worked perfectly too.
I was using the glued LOPT chassis on this tube. Until it recreated a sort of Van Der Graaf experiment whereby my hair was next to stand on end. A lot of cracking snapping and lightning effect to the screen, some puffs of smoke and some brown stains on my boxers. So I dug another chassis out and stuck that on.
It kinda made me realise a fire extinguisher might be an idea in the games room!
Oh yes, it was all fun and games. Sounded a bit like fireworks night, a similiar smell too. Coupled with the game on sound setting 50 of 63. It was enought to make me jump out of my skin. 1 on Sound is quite loud really. I've removed the gun and pedal now to restore them . The pedal works the other way round! The gun is fully working but I have a new case for it.
The chassis does have a small e/w board on it. I have no pics as it is currently in the machine while I test DSP boards. Its a playable pic it just bows about an inch in. I have all the caps to make it work, I could move them all from the glued LOPT chassis. I have already removed that w/w resistor that broke from that board. I just thought I may be able to pin down a few likely caps and replace only them plus get spares. As the place Farnells has a small order charge of under £6. I can get a few of the more needed caps. Apart from one monitor all are Hanty Polo's of some description. I guess I need a new LOPT for the other one but no rush.
Another qn if I may. I know the Polo's don't need one. But are Isolation transformers just that, an isolation transformer is an isolation transformer. Or do you need to match them up somehow too?
the pedal has a microswitch inside, perhaps it is wired to nc and not no
do you not get any adjustment from e/w board,if not check the following
c142,c144,c706,c705,c707
t701,t703,t117
check for +25v at r248 and r709
isolation transformers normally are voltage to voltage i.e 120v in and 120v out, they are used on earlier monitors as a protection.
strange really as when we used to build cabs we just installed standard stepdown transformers on wg7000 series, han mtc900/9000 and kortek ktn-never had any problems
Quite a few caps then. The pedal was busted in general, the hinge had come away and wasn't lining up with the micro switch properly. Its sorted now and repainted.
Would the e/w board have some pot on it that could correct the bowing? I haven't adjusted anything on the e/w board so I don't know if it has any effect. But will do if you think it could help.
you should find the pincushion pot and the keystone pot both on the east/west board
the pincushion is the one that needs adjusting, although you may to tweek the keystone a little
I'll pull it out again. Its annoying mounting chassis' on these shooting games, they are in a right awkward spot to attach and/or tweek with them in place. I didn't think anything would adjust the bowing. I'll have a go with that then and see where it gets me.
