Nanao MS-2932 won't start properly -sorted!

Post by invzim »

Too much not going the way I planned these days, bad planning perhaps :)

Anyho, I have removed my MS-2932 chassis for experimental reasons, but when re-installing it the monitor won't start properly.

This is what I have so far:
Connected Horizontal/Vertical yoke cables (red/blue, yellow/green)
power
remote cable
video-in cable
anode to tube
GND from tube to neck-board
degauss connector

When I start it up, it does the normal "whoosh", then a couple of seconds later an almost inaudible click (like a small relay), then then another "whosh" like you turn it off. No video. Checked the fuse on the chassis, and it's ok.

Anyone have any clue as to what might be the problem?

No, bog standard UK naomi - either way, the DC PSU shouldn't have any impact on the monitor.

it does on atomiswave stuff have had it first hand just check your power on the 3.3 volts for me seems monitors shut down/relay sound when not getting everything correct (try just for pig iron)

Not really sure what fixed it - tried to remove the gnd from the neckboard just to test, and it didn't shut down but got a horizontal line - which is probably a sign of vertical deflection problems.

Removed yoke cables, checked for continuity to yoke. Reattached gnd, while neckboard off, also removed unconnected rotation coil, which is probably what caused the problem in the first place - grant?

You've just answered something I've been wondering about for ages. I had a board (arcana heart) that was causing my monitor to do this exact thing. I tried it on another AWSD & it did the same thing. I'm guessing that the board was a little power hungry when the video was going throught he jamma.

Weirdly when you use the VGA port on the board it all works perfectly. **** Wei-ya psu's :( I didn't bother checking the voltages when it was connected as I found a way round it.

I'll know better for next time ;)

rotation coil would not cause the problem unless you plugged it in to the nanao
most likely you had a bad connection in the deflection circuit, that causes nanao to shut down
