Penrhos's Gamesroom - it begins

Post by penrhos »

A few of you have been round to mine and seen the state of the garage where I store my cabs. I've finally got the funds and the go-ahead from the wife to do something about it.

I took me three nights of hard graft to clear the middle of the garage so the builders could work in there - I wont be playing anything for a while...

The builders should be back on Wednesday to fit the door & frame. I ordered a 33" wide firedoor with all the bits you need to meet building regs fitted with a 7-lever high security lock (no more worrying about my cab collection being in a normal garage).

Sell all your "duplicate" cps2 A boards, you'd probably get a fair whack towards that building cost

I did offer a Naomi cab for some plastering/painting on WPG but didn't get any takers.

I'm in two minds about the rest of the project.

1) Get planning permission & pay £2000 to remove the garage door and have a wall + window fitted that matches the rest of the house & have it plastered.

2) build a stud partition behind the door and just paint the blocks white which will be about £250 - so I can change it back to a garage if needed.

Issue is - is a 4 bedroom house with double garage worth more than a 4 bedroom house with 1 garage & a gamesroom.

I hate garage conversions.

Keep the option of the garage available, unless you're planning on selling up soon.

Aye, make your decision based on how long you plan on staying there.

Tbh if I saw a games room in a house I liked I'd be all over it, but if I had 3 cars & no arcade machines I might think different.

I'd still have one garage & off-road standing for another 3 on the front of the house even after converting the garage so parking wouldn't be an issue. Its just I'm not 100% sure people would get a gamesroom. Mind you I'm not planning on moving again unless I have to.

When my parents last moved - was when I was 7 I think - one of the houses we looked at was entirely open plan upstairs, with bedrooms and all the rest downstairs. And a Galaxian tabletop at the top of the stairs.

It's somewhere within 3-4 miles of where I am. The Galaxian is no doubt long gone, but I was sorely disappointed that we didn't get that house!

My advice move house..

I am thinking off moving to a bigger place purely on a business side of things, to rent a unit would cost more than a new mortgage anyway.
Say hello to my little friend...

Starting to look nice and clean. I'm also in the middle of a small renovation to the house with lots of paintwork, first it's a bloody mess, but in the end it looks perfect again and that makes you feel great man. Nice and tidy ;)

£130 inc tax for three nights in the 4 star hotel....

£300 on Food, Beer & weed if the last trip is anything to go by (mainly beer if I remember correctly).
