Family Reunion - I had previously put one of my Astros into storage due to space constraints, but recently someone has petrol bombed the unit next to ours and burned it to a crisp. Thankfully the fire didn't get into our unit, and the only thing that happed to our stuff in there was a coating of soot/particles.

Not wanting to leave it in there any more I brought it back home, and put it in its rightfull place next to its siblings

A quick scrub with foam cleaner and a microfibre cloth, and its looking as good as ever ( Its the tate machine in the lineup)

Aaaaah yeah! Astros are the best. So iconic to me.

I’m sure I’ve said it before though, I much prefer them to have the yellowed speaker housing. Dunno why, it just looks wrong to me when they’re resprayed back to white. . (Don’t get me wrong, I still think they look great)

I just resprayed my yellowed speaker surround after years of being used to it, and I gotta say, it's taking some adjusting for me too. We fear change!

All my signs are my own personal designs and projects, one of my side hobbies. Some are animated, some are static, all done with various LED techniques, either side lighting silicone or laser etched acrylic.

lol, I suspect a lot of us are in all the usual places and see each other around. I'm not not great about aligning my avatars across some of these forums/social.

I appreciate AO, but since this forum tends to be more European-focused I'm just not as active here I guess.

And yeah, those are the custom readers I did for the Vewlixes. Something I need to finish up some day, these are still more nice prototypes than really finished.

I'm happy to share, just one of those things where sitting down to document it all is a project, and I never quite have the time or motivation to do it lol.

It's not something super hard to do, at all. But it's also not really a plug and play project either. You need to be comfortable programming Arduinos, wiring up hardware, 3D printing, that kind of stuff. I would say if you're interested to grab an Arduino Uno or Leonardo, buy an RFID reader, and learn how to hook them up. That will get you a long way, and I can give you advice from things I learned.

I also design and print my own RFID cards, which you can do with the right adapter on certain Canon printers. Not strictly necessary, but adds to the fun of it all when my players have custom cards.

No, they're all various levels of experimenting really. I started with 3D printing the guides, now I'm laser cutting them. The learning is part of the fun. I'm rolling my own stuff now, getting empty silicone tubes and my own LED strips for them for better control, especially for RGB applications, but if you just google "LED neon flex" you'll find off the shelf stuff you can play with.

The Gutter Trash sign is made with pre-made strips, they look great. I just wanted a little more specific applications which is why I started getting my own 'raw materials'.

I was invited to a local meetup here in Stockholm yesterday starring the lovely @DarthBoMan and his impressive AC/NAC collection.
It was 3-4 years since I last visited his place. It was cozy back then, but the new game room is on a whole new level.
