Today i got the nickel plated metal parts. They look f*** awesome i think. Nearly like chrome.

Protected the surface with 2 sealing layers (Chemicals Guys - Jet Seal 109) and used Vertua Bond 408 as a pre cleaner.
Maybe it helps against oxidation, let's see.

just as a comparison how the original part looked like

So maybe you ask yourself WHY doing that to the parts which are INSIDE the cabinet. I just like it if i open the Egret and everything shines. It's like when you open a hood of an oldtimer and everything looks nice and "fresh". :awe:

On the pics it's not as shiny as in reality. The pics can't do it justice. 8-)

This is something I'd love to do myself, but I would just end up half-assing it, not going full anal. :awe:

really admirable work on that cabinet. can't wait to see it fully finished :awe:

i'll have to get my hands on restoring the cabinet i'll be getting soon enough, it's kind of in bad shape and the stuff you've posted will probably help in me actually accomplishing something beyond destroying the actual thing

curious on how much you're spending for the paint process and all

This was going well right up until the side art got removed. So much for 99% factory fresh, unless the factory is the same one pumping out the Chinese Vewlixes. Shiny, but not quite right.

At first I didn’t understand, it hurt to see the original sticker go. But now that I’m seeing these brand spankin new looking pieces laid out, I’m getting the idea. Can’t wait to see things start to come together, the light stand is bonkers :slowclap:
I just hope the repro artwork does the thing justice.

Just some cleaning pics again. I let the yellow zink plated metal parts in that original state. They looked like new anyway. Just need a wipe down.

Ikkkk

This is the plastic stuff which protects the cables from being scratched.

All washed, just don't forget to dry properly afterwards

Looks like new again

I always had such a "nice" prickling when i touched the metal parts of my cabinet. I know now why. Such a smart guy just cutted the one pin. Wanted to replace it anyway because it looked horrible, full of nikotin and dirt.
Image

Nice transport damage. I think no coin can fit through that :wtf:

Ok, now the part i was pretty anxious because of the costs. I think everybody knows what the tiniest damage cost to repaint on a car. Anyway i went to a car paintshop and asked. Of course it's not the finish you get for a car, but it's really nice done i think and the price was also ok. Best thing i got them back after 2 days only :-o .

This part was really ugly. Full of dirt which coudn't be cleaned. Don't wanna know how many sweaty hands lied on that panel.

Lucky when you don't get a f*** rash if you touch that with your wrist

also the inside was nicely done

What is it to play? The same as on a dirty one :D . Noo.. For me it's like doubled the pleasure even the gameplay is of course the same. But you sit in front of it, every part shines and you feel as you would play on an absolute new Egret 2 :wtf: . Maybe i'm a bit "special"
