I was just refitting the coin mech and noticed this.
Erm, shouldn't these earth wires be connected to something? Or eachother?

The inside one should be connected to the post inside. The external one goes to ground on the stepdown.

When you said "unhook" did you mean give them slack or actually disconnect them?5 years younger cools wrote:Frameless monitor, no rotate mech. Unhook all cables, pull out (has big handles to grab), pop back in.
Anything else obvious I should know? Imagine I'm an idiot.

Give them slack and make sure they won't snag on anything.
While you can do it without disconnecting them, I'd suggest it's safer to actually do so at least the first time so you know there are no hidden cable ties. The yoke wires are so awkward to get to you won't be changing orientation regularly.

Thanks again cools.
Shame. I was expecting easiness once I knew what to do.cools wrote:The yoke wires are so awkward to get to you won't be changing orientation regularly.

It's a bit scary since it's frameless and tubes are so rare. I did it once and won't do it again. I undid a couple of tight wires and left the rest connected. Had someone round the back watching the neck.

Re: Jaleco Pony Mark III 25
Are you talking about rotating the monitor?

Yeah.
I'll be attempting it soon. Not looking forward to it now. Thanks for the advice thomj.

If it's of any assurance, I have rotated mine quite a few times now.pubjoe wrote:Yeah.

The first time I did it, I had a look for the wires that may be an issue and loosened them from the clips. Then, like Thom, I got someone to watch the neck from behind and slowly did the rotation via the handles.
Since then, I got a little braver as I started to learn a bit more about monitors and removed the neck board very gently and evenly beforehand. I can do this on my own but I guess there is always that little bit of fear that you may neck a very rare monitor so it is always a bit unsettling. The last house we lived at was also pretty damp which affected some of the solder joints in the machine, and when I took off the neck board, I must have dislodged some of the solder, because I lost the red. To my surprise, I just reflowed all the discoloured and loose looking points and everything worked again...
This is coming from a guy that used to wear rubber gloves and H/V Probe every monitor in fear of death.

I would much prefer to rotate this than an Astro monitor. Some of the folks here who MS29 tates on their own must have Thor like Strength. I used to get my mate to help do mine and even with two people it was a hard work!
Good luck. I'm sure it will be fine though

Looked round the back. No serious snags. Just grabbed it from the front and did it.

Be sure to give Ibara a good go before deciding you hate it!

Remember that you can change ship type by holding a combination of the 3 fire buttons and start to play. Holding a,b and c together gives you the fastest ship with the best bomb (imo).
Also, if you get a third life, kill yourself as the game will throw everything at you!
