It was from B&Q - they had it on offer at £8.50 a box (2.50 sq/m coverage per box) the room took 6 boxes I also needed 2 packs of 6mm laminate underlay £21 each and a door strip.

Its rated for domestic use for living rooms, conservetories, bedrooms - not suitable for industrial use or heavy traffic (so we'll see how long it lasts with 110Kg cabs sat on it).

Got my cab sitting on some m8, You just have to be careful with the wheels marking them when moving the cabs, I use a bit of hardboard for that and then pull it out when there in situé 8-)
Looking good so far pen :)

Penrhos, I was thinking about doing something similar - have you got any heating in there or do you think the cabs will be okay without? I was looking down the lines of a storage heater of something like that.

No heat at the moment, its within the boundry of the house and the partition I built behind the garage door has 5" of insulation and insulating foil blanket behind it.

There is a little warmth from the networking kit and my Fileserver that run 24/7.

I'm fitting a small wall mounted heater (once I've found a suitable one) & I have a fan heater I was using when it got realy cold.

TBH once the cabs have been on for an hour or so it soon warms up.

I have laminated wooden flooring in the kitchen. The Naomi Mini sits on a cut off piece of carpet to match the width & depth of the base of the unit exactly, so that way you cannot see it. The biggest advantage being that you can simply slide the heavy unit around the floor without damaging your back or the flooring. Not sure you could achieve the same thing with the castors on the Naomi SD, but the other units would be ok!

Go back to B&Q and check out their range of wall heaters. I have precisely the same issue, but I suspect even less insulation in mine and colder because I am further north & west.

During the winter I discovered that using arcades, even with a fan heater and wearing coat, gloves, hat and scarf just ain't fun. Industrial sized heater ahoy!

I presume that the cold isn't an issue for running a cab then?

Cabs will be fine, just warm them up prior to switch on. You really don't want to be running CRTs at temperatures below 5c. Low temp > warm = condensation = bang.

Warm surfaces in a cold environment = evaporation
Cold surfaces in a hot environment = condensation

That's why glasses get all fogged up when you've just been in the cold outside and you suddenly enter a warm home.
