My car cost me over 6k in repairs this year. Thing is it's worth maybe half es much

The craziest thing this year: I didn't pass mot because of too little wiper fluid what the TÜV-guy didn't notice was a collapsed suspension mount which was not apparent at first and when noticed no spare available through the garage :-o took me a week to obtain a new set of shock mounts and another week for them to arrive :problem:
Because everything was apart and I already passed the financial point of no return, I went all in and equipped my car with a complete sport suspension, strut brace and new polyurethane bushings. To be fair it is the longest relationship I ever had, so I'm a bit emotionally attached to the old POS.

What can I say; you're no true petrol head if you haven't owned an Alfa-Romeo in your life

Very nice.

Makes me sad I don't have a drive or garage, I'd love a project car.

After not having any JPN cabs for a few years now... I decided to get a car made in Japan: ‎Tahara, Aichi‎, executive class of course.

Sounds impressive, you old car wasn't exactly bottom of the range either. You'll not get mistaken for police now. ;)
