Re: Apple Fanboy Thread
Nail in the coffin. They should have listened to their customers. To me the galaxy s2 with the extended battery and go launcher ex would be a better option, atm. I might even get an iphone next now that i have an ipad that i use all the time.Pete wrote:HTC One X has a Nvidia chip in it & the battery is meant to last about half a day

In some tests HTC One X has a even worse benchmark score than iPhone4S:

I agree, it looks fantastic. I'd buy one if it wasn't for iCloud and App Store. Apple need to bring sexy back for iPhone 5.

Re: Apple Fanboy Thread
(Just realised the link was about Siri agreeing too).
My mate went from a ten year old bog standard phone the the lumia. He thought he'd be able to get draw something, world of goo and various other apps. I said it's a new OS, just give it some time for apps to be ported over. I'm sure they will.

Re: Apple Fanboy Thread
I personally think the new Nokia has the best looks, but is a little bit behind in terms of tech.
So do you think the new Apple OS will be changed much or still have the same look ?

Re: Apple Fanboy Thread
I don't think that ios 6 will look much different than 5.1.1.
I quite like the lumia phones but i think that windows phone needs a bit longer to get used to than ios and android, because you can't fit as many apps or shortcuts on one screen. At least with the lumia 800 that i played with a few weeks ago, i had to scroll down quite a bit in order to find certain tiles. Not sure how much longer the list of tiles can get when you start adding apps that weren't pre installed.
also, i'm not sure if i would get bored with the simplistic tile design.

Re: Apple Fanboy Thread
Problem for me with iphones is I love the feel of the hardware & hate the software restrictions.
Lumia 900 got a bit of a slating in some reviews recently, mainly as its just a 800 with a bigger screen, yet retains the same screen rez
Got another Android phone coming as part of my upgrade on May 30th (S3) so will just have to see how I get on with that, my current HTC Desire has been kinder knackered since Feb so will be nice just to get a working phone

Re: Apple Fanboy Thread
Be prepared, this is proper rant.
My iPhone's Ear Speaker blew about 2 weeks ago. Apple sent me a new phone.
The new phone had a really yellow and dull screen, so I requested a replacement.

The new phone had a nice bright screen and everything appeared to be fine... Until my alarm went off and I realised that the glass front and the button were "farting" when the phone vibrated, so I requested a replacement.
The new phone had... a massive dent all around the metal where the headphone goes in. Reconditioned? Probably, so (ten minutes ago) I requested a replacement.
I am obviously livid, but worse, if I did not have Apple care, I would have to pay £25 for every single replacement, as there is no Apple store near me.
So a big FU to Apple and their shoddy manufacturing... I may get a Nokia Lumia if the next one is in anyway imperfect.

Re: Apple Fanboy Thread
The Apple Care number is also 0845 so it is probably costing me a small fortune in phone conversations.
I forgot to mention that the first 4S and iPad 3 I got both had yellow dull screens too... Apple Y u no good?

There was something about them changing the colour temp or some bollox. The 4S is noticeably more yellow.

I'm a plasma fan so it looks fine to me
I've only ever had two things go wrong with Apple products. 1. A stick of RAM crapped out on my iMac a few weeks after I got it causing kernow panics. Somewhere approved 10 minutes away fixed it and billed Apple. No other issues in 2 years. 2. My iPad 2 had very minor light bleed in one place at full brightness. I sent it off and received a new one 48hrs later, which went on eBay

Re: Apple Fanboy Thread
They call it "yellowgate" and it appears they use 2 different manufacturers for the screens.Rossyra wrote:There was something about them changing the colour temp or some bollox. The 4S is noticeably more yellow.
2 of my 4S's have been nice and bright with a neutral colour temp and the rest have been yellow and dull.
Apple do not even question you if you have the issue. It also affects iPad 3's. My first one of them was barely visible in sunlight. New one is better than my iPad 1 screen.

Re: Apple Fanboy Thread
Has a tech site ever compared how the two types of screen's gamut compare to the adobe RGB reference?
I ask because I remember using expensive "professional" calibrated monitors and they seemed on the warm side when compared to a normal screen.
Oh and my ipad is yellowish too.

No idea to be honest but I guess it would be strange if they only calibrated half of their inventory this way.pubjoe wrote:Has a tech site ever compared how the two types of screen's gamut compare to the adobe RGB reference?

It isn't really the tone that bothers me but how dull every yellowgate one I have owned is. In daylight it is really difficult to see the screen compared to a normal one.
