Re: The Goyle Watched Over The Weekend
Black Dynamite 3/5. Nicely executed parody with some funny scenes, but fails to excite in the same way as say, Kung Pow. Great storyline however.
Humpday 9/10. Indie film. Possibly the best indie I've seen. Story is a bit lame, but it's all so utterly convincing you can't help but like it. If you like movies that are all dialogue, and characters that you could meet anywhere in real life, it's a must watch.

Most of his work is a 1 joke show, I felt this film was his lamest yet.

I totally agree. I'm starting to think the actual mind of the duo was Merchant rather than GervaisPete wrote:Most of his work is a 1 joke show, I felt this film was his lamest yet.

Damn right. Merchant shouldn't let him out on his own.John James Pacinelli wrote:I totally agree. I'm starting to think the actual mind of the duo was Merchant rather than GervaisPete wrote:Most of his work is a 1 joke show, I felt this film was his lamest yet.
He's made a right **** of himself lately - I felt he jumped a big fat shark when he did that christmas special extras/big brother thing.
I heard him on the radio a year or so ago saying how he considers celebs doing crap films and cameos as taking "golf trips", but he hasn't any time for golf trips as he's just too busy working. I thought he's either being ironic or (hopefully) he's writing again. ...Turns out he was just being a prick.
I do love Gervais too, but he needs grounding.

Watched ink last night. Pretty good. Didn't see the twist coming, although you probably will now if you watch it knowing there is one!

Re: The Goyle Watched Over The Weekend
Saw Sherlock Homes last night. 4.5/5
Surprisingly very good & totally entertaining from start to finish. There were no lulls & the pacing of the film was perfect. You don’t have any time to reflect on the absurdity of things while watching.
I wasn’t expecting much of it, but it’s well cast even with Jude Law (who infuriates me). The fight scenes are very ‘Snatch’ which is a good thing. It’s not exactly taxing or twisting & turning all over the place, but it’s all the better for it. There’s one main plot line, some distractions to give depth to the main characters. If I were to complain about anything it’s that homes seems a bit too omnipotent and McAdams is wearing far too many clothes throughout (there is a scene were she is naked, but you see her sexy back & that’s it
), but these issues can be overlooked.
As always Mark Strong is his usual restrained, cool self and RDJ is believable as the ultimate detective. Guy Ritchies best film since Snatch, which lets face it isn’t a huge compliment in itself.

Re: The Goyle Watched Over The Weekend
Post-midnight movie session involved:
Mirrors. Seemed good enough, although I don't remember much of it
. A rather hesitant 3/5.
Mongol. Brain in more working order for this. Awesome film, but too short! Should have covered the entire lifetime, rather than being cut off. Beautifully shot and acted, properly epic.

A bit short, and needed more back story on his character. Loved it though, even if it was mainly an hour and a half's build up to the End CreditsJohn James Pacinelli wrote:Harry.Brown 7/10
