You can purchase the IC from RS. 26p each, you've got to buy 5 though. :awe:

edit, perhaps not. 'out of stock'

Did you see the edit I made to my post on the first page, cools?

I've had a look at the pot now and it has:

104
6P 70

printed on the side, and some embossed text saying "T0C0S", or "TOCO5", it's hard to make out cause I don't have a microscope.

That black resistor or battery or whatever it is has "C-79F" on the bottom.

Thansk Yosai - I realised right after I'd asked that i could just go find teh datasheet!

Question is - why is the Toshiba code prefixed TC yet the chip we are looking at doesn't have TC printed on it. Hmmmn.

Anyway. the Toshiba chip is now obsolete, am taking a look on Mouser to find alternatives.

TC probably stands for Toshiba Corp. or similar.

Good luck with finding an alternative, keep us posted. :awe:

Just lemme know if you have more questions about these.

They are connected to your panel thusly:

1. Unplug the GND from button A on your panel
2. Plug the spade connector from the circuit into the GND wire connector
3. Connect either blue wire to the GND on the A button
4. (Optionally) connect the second blue wire to yet another button by disconnecting it's GND

5. Do NOT cut the red wire, or your cabinet will explode. :awe:

So we've got a 100k pot, and a 79F capacitor. :D

I presume it would be easy enough to add an on/off switch to these?

I plan on mounting some bigger pots to control these in a custom I/O panel along with a load of other shizzle for my Naomi ÜSD project :)

If only it were that easy eh!

The TC74HC14AP is still available with almost identical specs except it has a schmitt trigger so will probably not do what we want.

Still looking - may just call the girly at Mouser and ask her to find us the bit we want...

While I'm at it - have we got a definitive list of what the other required parts are now?

Eh? The 74HC14 is a different part.

Farnell have thousands of 74HC04 in different package types :)

Yes, that's what I;m saying, it's similar, but it has a schmitt trigger so won't do.

Innit. Don't worry, just uhm "typing aloud"...

Sadly, any time you introduce a micro you're probably going to need voltage. Run some power up to your CP.
Taito too.

I'm just keen to find out whether the 5v-less autofire is achievable, and if so HOW. I've read it can be done but never found out the method, and spoken to some very clever electronics bods who've not been able to give me a solid yes/no answer :)
Something with a series of relays may do it perhaps...

Is anyone planning on knocking a few of these up? I could really do with a couple and I'm totally lost reading all this gibberish :awe:

I so want to play Raiden DX again, but with no auto-fire it kills me

Me too as it happens - have 24 of the ICs now (inc the four Yosai gave me initially t'other week ;)). That said, don't wanna stand on your toes Lee - PM me.

Asides from this version of Emphatic's doo-hickey, I am also reverse engineering a proper pcb based Japanese autofire that Cools got - I have sourced 90% of the parts so far...

Plus, there is always the big box of 555 timers i have kicking about which I could utilise for a cheapy circuit

I'll try and throw togethera proto this weekend.

Always considered the use of auto fire as cheating :problem:
I'm surprised at most of you guys being into auto fire, Your so into keeping games authentic (using PCB's instead of mame) yet your not even baulking at introducing a foreign element like auto fire :wtf:
"Yeah lets all get ponys instead, wait no lol trendy cabs" Err I think you meant Ponies didn't you ?

It’s not cheating………

I can remember using auto-fire on the snes with SF2 & you could yoga noogie someone to death in 2 hits :awe: that’s cheating.

The Export version of Raiden DX has Auto C built in. The Japan region does not.

I don’t mind hammering the a button for 1 or 2 credits, but when you are playing at home, for maybe 2-3 hours it a total pain in the ****. They also use them in a lot of Japanese arcades & AFAIK they accept Auto-fire rigged scores in Arcadia.
