Re: MAME 0.136
Same here bout the naomi emulation, the focus at the mo with makaron and others is the amount of games they can make playable. As far a the nag screen thing in MAME goes, it dosnt bother me but its a nice touch at the same time. The high score support is in there but to be honest i mainly use mameplusgui and tick the box for auto save/auto load in the options, does the same job and it makes it easy when i update my mame because all i have to do is move my existing sta folder. Ive also setup the cheats in mine and they are a real novelty, I dont use em much though, but its fun to see the effect when they are enablled. I seem to be getting more and more enjoyment out of messing about with menu font changes and filter changes lately too.

Re: MAME 0.136
dknute said he wants to add some scaling options to makaron, but mainly for high res lcds. I've asked in his blog a couple of times if he would add 640x240 (no filtering) but he's not replied (even when I tried bribing him with a naomi cart donation). He's really just making the emu for personal usage and experience though so that's that.
In mame, it is a nice touch to remove nag screens. Also I'll try playing with those other features you've mentioned. I didn't realise there was an auto save/load feature - ssvestates are better than using hiscore.dat for several reasons, but I've never bothered using them manually so that'd be really good, thanks.
Wasn't there a discontinued mame build a long time ago that used to support graphics hardware/hacks to speed it up? I respect the mame mission and all that tight accuracy stuff, but it'd be cool if mame had a looser, sexier sister.

Re: MAME 0.136
Your welcome Beaps.
Ive played the ff hack using nebula 2.25 and the ffightb.zip rom, dont know what works on mame.
edit: ok got the game runing in mame now using ffightjh.zip. there is also no rom check or capcom name shown when the rom boots.

It's named as "Street Smart / Final Fight (Japan, hack)". Took me a while to find it too.Beaps wrote:whats the name of the Final Fight hack rom?

Re: MAME 0.136
there is *ONE* thing special about 0.136, people who enjoy games that use 8 bit eeproms to save data should run for the hills. almost every 8 bit eeprom chip is broken from what i've read in 0.136, and that breaks, oh, every Konami game between 1989 and 1997 or so. Probably many more games from other companies too.aryssoR wrote:No, nothing special, no improvement on CPS3 in quite a whileAkuma wrote:Anything special about ver 0.136?? Huge number of EEPROM changes according to the whatsnew.txt - http://mamedev.org/releases/whatsnew_0136.txt"Removed auto-init hack from some Konami games. Hold down F2 and reset
(via F3) to initialize the EEPROM, like all the other Konami games.

Not at all. Aaron broke it 5 mins before release. The above-referenced changes had been thoroughly tested.

Re: MAME 0.136
The F2 fix only works in Konami games with working or half working eeproms, the simpsons will work after doing that, but you can't change any operator settings. Most everything else is busted. I think GX still works.
