Re: I received today...
Okay, so you buy this thing, and the world is your oyster, but it doesn't come with any games... so what do you do next? I remember trying to track down mame romsets was always a pain and most of them would never work, I honestly gave it up years ago and just play whatever I had working at the time that still works. Did this get any easier or do you still have to frequent shady IRC channels or beg weird bearded men to fill up a HDD?

Re: I received today...
Much easier, it downloads the games automatically.
You run a script called update all.

Re: I received today...
Yeah Update_all is amazing. It'll sort out all your cores and arcade romsets. Just leave it to run and come back and it's done.
What I then do myself is just use Filezilla to connect to the MiSTer with my laptop over wifi and drop over anything else I need, like Saturn/PS1 games etc.
I know it's not really advanced technology, but being able to switch on an arcade machine and have it connected to wifi without having to remove anything never ceases to get old.

Strange that the V2.0 pics on that link omit the jamma edge. I had to read the description to make sure it was still jamma

Re: I received today...
It must be a rendering bug on mac Chrome
The v2.0 certainly looks rather nice with the white pcb.

£4,498.04.

They're just down the road from me. Anyone wants to do a group buy I can pick them up in person and save a couple of quid on shipping

Do it. It's a great little bit of kit and runs some stuff flawlessly. Like pubjoe said, you can sink a load of money into it, or just go basic. I've got a couple of setups - basic using an ipac (took a bit of effort to cable up) and an Invzim Irkenlabs (plug n play) Once the SD card is setup, arcade game updating is just clicking on the update all script and having a coffee.

Current version doesn't seem to display correctly with MS8-29 (likely -25 and -26 as well). There's a long thread about it on Arcade-Projects.

What size of SD card do you need on this? I think I have a 128gb on my kindle for comics and have never come close to filling it

Re: I received today...
Ouch. I'm not qualified to say whats going on there but RGB pots on the board seems unusual for an arcade output. Fwiw I've run Zims Expander on a G07 older than me, as well as an MS8 and an Intervideo with no problems.nem wrote: October 4th, 2024, 4:55 pmKretinou wrote: October 4th, 2024, 12:10 pmMistercade is fine too with a lot of possibilities![]()

My MiSTercade V1 works absolutely perfect with my MS8-25. Was actually going to pick up a v2 so I could have one in each cabinet but will be holding off for now.

Re: I received today...
I lurked the thread over there, seems like the creator fixed it:
Might just wait for V3 LolRegarding dim video:
I found a way to increase the brightness. It involves removing 3 (tiny) resistors. It will approximately double the video levels, restoring them to MiSTercade V1's levels.
I've already modified the remaining MiSTercade V2s and will happily perform the mod on units that have already shipped.
Unlike consumer RGB video, arcade RGB video levels never had a standard. Most arcade board video voltages range from 2V to 5V. You'll find most Raspberry Pi solutions to have 0.7V video output. I chose 3.3V video levels for MiSTercade V1 because it matched the Neo Geo MV1C arcade board. The MiSTercade V2 units that already shipped have video levels closer to 2V. I wish JAMMA had standardized a video level. It would have made everyone's life much easier.

It doesn't solve the ringing from what I've understood, just the brightness.

Yeah I also noticed that, wonder what got changed for the worse in the design. Do the older units ring?
