At work now so cant do pics or anything till I'm home tonight I'm afraid but it looks like a good sturdy unit.

Box is full English as well which did suprise me slightly.

Typical great service from Deal Xtreme arrived within a week recorded delivery & didnt get hit with customs thankfully ;)

Gonna have a good play about with it tonight & will get some impressions up then :)

Cool, would love your impressions on this. Still undecided on if I want to place an order for one. Sway me I have money to burn ;)

Well it's currently on charge & has been for the last 3 hours :(

But I've got some pics for you all anyway...

It did have a little charge when I cracked it out the box & I fired it up very quickly & played about with changing the language to English & had a quick browse of the settings.
It looks like it already comes pre-installed with GBA & Neo Geo Emulators.
The lay out is exactly the same as a PSP menu.
It's quite weighty & has a very sturdy feel, buttons are nice & tight & well laid out.
Screen is nice & bright & very clear...doesnt seem too small which is something I was worried about, will be interested to see how it fares on games like Axelay though when a bigger screen would make it easier to see the bullets etc.

Only downside I've found so far is it takes Mini SD cards which I dont have any of :(
I thought the Mini bit was maybe a mis-print & it meant Micro SD but alas no so I have to go buy a Mini SD adaptor now for my 4GB Micro card :(

Hopefully it'll be finfished charging soon & I'll be able to start playing about properly & give you some better impressions but so far I'm impressed.

Thanks for the pics. Would be interested to know how the screen holds up to fast moving scenes on both games and movies. One of the things I hate about the PSP is the blur effect you get when it moves fast.

I dont know why your worrying about SD cards it has 4 gig builtin which should be enough to sample a bit of everything it has to offer :)

Probably ;)
I've never been one for playing/using things too much on their first charge.

Anywho it's just flashed up a nice big full battery so it's time to play me thinks ;)

Whatever works for you man :) I treat batteries like absolute crap and they never give me any issue until a few years later when you expect them to.

Quite interested to see what the emulators are like - particularly the Nintendo stuff.

Had a quick play round with it now & it's perfect :)

Played a bit of Batman Returns & Axelay on the SNES Emu.
Both seem to run full speed & look amazing on the little screen.
Crystal clear & easy to see, no noticable blur either on the fast moving sections
I still get my **** handed to me on a plate in Axelay...been so long since I played it last time.

Also tried some Robocop on the NES emu.
Perfect as the original, plays just as well & runs full speed from what I can see as well.

Finally to give the video a workout I tried an episode of the Gaiking: Legend of Daiku Maryu Anime on it & it was perfect playback.
No noticable blurring, subs were easy to read & colours were nice bright & vibrant.

Havent tried plugging it into the TV yet as the mrs is watching CSI so I'll play about with that tomorrow but so far I'm seriosuly impressed.

Going to start popping some more software on there now & will let you know how it fares with the Neo/GBA/CPS stuff over the next day or so (once I figure out how to encode them properly)

I'll try to get some for you...will be off my Mobile though so they wont be the best quality but I'll see what I can do.

Was fiddling about a bit more last night & noticed that it actually comes pre-installed with all the Emu's listed.

Also I've heard that it might be possible to get the PC Engine Emulator from the Gemei X760 working on it so I'm going to try that as well later.

Did have problems with the Neo stuff last night but I'll have more time to play about tonight so hopefully I'll be getting some Last Resort/Metal Slug on there later.

Neo is what I'm most interested in. I'll be excited if it can handle the likes of Garou or KOF 2002 without too much slowdown.

That said though, at £60 you still can't go wrong. :)

Still havent got Neo working on it :(

I know how to do it just havent sorted it yet.

There's some software that you need to convert the rom files I've got it all here but I was home late from the gym so havent had time to play around with it tonight.
Hopefully will do tomorrow though.

I have noticed though that the sound on some SNES games is slightly off.
SFX sound ok but the music is deffinitley not what I remember on things like Batman Returns & Donkey Kong Country :(
Still I dont have the sound up anyway.

CPS2 isnt wotking at all though...cant seem to get any CPS2 running at all.
CPS1 seems ok but for some reason no one can get CPS2 working
I have a few people on the case at the mo & hopefully it'll be sorted soon.

Bingo83,

Welcome to the club :)
Hope your as pleased with the purchase as I am when it arrives :)

I didn't realize you were only in Basildon, I might have to pop over and have a go :)

That said, I've thought about it and realized that all I really want out of this thing is the TV out functionality and if that's the case I might as well stick with a PC for all my emulators. That way I have ZSNES, KEGA, psX etc plus I can use my USB SNES/MD/Jag/whatever pads.

If you want emus on the go this looks like a good option though.

Well the offers there Joel if you do fancy a play about with it :)

The main reason for me purchasing it was for emulators on the go.
Ideally I'd have a PC setup really but I just dont have the space in the flat for one & this gives me something to play about with while the missus wathces whatever she wants on our only telly ;) lol

Got some MD games running last night & I was pleased with how well Gynoug run but not so impressed with Rocket Knight.
Gynoug was perfect & as good as I remembered
Rocket Knight on the other hand suffered really badly from blurring & artifacts, also not sure but it seemed to frame skip a bit in places as well so might have to see how it fares with a few more later like the Thunderforce series, Sensible Soccer & Eternal Champions.

Ahh, Gynoug. What a game. Used to play it on my Nomad, found the bullets a bit small even then :)

Gynoug is probably my favourite MD game of all time so was always going to be one of the first games I tried.

To be fair the bullets werent that bad on the Dingoo easy enough to see to make it playable :)

Well had another big play about last night because the missus was out

FLAC Audio playback is awesome...crystal clear & as close to the CD original as I could make out.

TV-Out is good...not great but bearable.
Games all run full screen & same speed as on the Dingoo itself.
Video playback is fine if a little grainy.
I did notice though that it stops to buffer the video files regularly which I think will get annoying during long films, Anime episodes isnt so bad but 2hr movies I reckon it will get to be a pain.

I've also finally managed to get CPS2 & MVS Emulation working & thats pretty good.
Tried AvP on CPS2 & Eightman/Pulstar on MVS
AvP seemed to run fine but it's been so long since I last played it that I cant remember how fast it was.
Eightman again run perfectly fine however my version of pulstar is corrupt & the graphics werent working so will try with another version later.
I've got Kof'98, '02 & Metal Slugs lined up to tinker with tonight so will see how they fare on the ickle beasty.

Something important though that you should all know...Frameskip is auto enabled for all emulators, turning it off makes them all VERY slow & clunky I dont recommend turning it off at all.
You can set a number of frames to be skipped though so you can lessen the effect & in esscence slow the emulator down if your finding it too fast.

Still I'm more than happy with the machine & portable Turtles in Time is currently worth every penny to me :)

Just out of curiosity, why were they not working and what did you do to fix that?

They needed converting to be recognised by the Emu.

Quick fiddle about with some incomprehensible Japanese conversion software & I was away :)
