Dingoo A320 - Handheld Retro Gaming

Post by Bingo83 »

Just browsing another forum and came across a small thread on the Dingoo A320.

Official Site

Looks pretty decent for a handheld Retro gaming machine without breaking the bank, the videos I have seen of it seem to run the games at a next to full speed.

Looks like it supports Snes/Megadrive/NES/CPS1/CPS2/NeoGeo/GameboyAdvance games out the box and also plays back various video formats.

Comes with 4GB memory expandable upto 12Gig :)

I found it for under £60 delivered at Dealextreme

My one is on ruote from Deal Xtreme as I speak :) (Posted on Saturday 14th)

Looking forward to getting my hands on it, some Progear at last for me not to mention AvP & Cadillacs & Dinosaurs ;)

Hopefully MAME will be due on it soon too

TV out will be a plus as well for my Anime...means no more streaming to the Xbox for watching it.

Only downside for me is no .mkv file support but then I've got Tversity for that anyway.

Will let you know impressions once it's here peeps :)

Screens only just smaller than the DS Lite's one (3") & that seems to do pretty well really

Not sure on the battery I expect it is enclosed as it comes with a USB charger.

So far only the Asian version is being shipped, CE approved version for Europe/US is still to be released.
I'm happy to announce that our shop www.dino-games.com will be official distributor for the English version, will post updates on this later.

Most games run at full speed, even CPS2 and MVS games, even games which don't run at full speed are still very playable and with sound. D-pad is really good, not up to par with a Gameboy, but still good to very good, buttons are also very responsive and good (shoulder buttons a bit small and the pressure point is not as good as the buttons on front).
It even has a built in FM receiver... lots of fun in a nice package.

£60 squid is a good price for it though, Although if I was going to buy another handheld I'd put the £60 towards the pandora :D

True, you can download and get hands on English firmware for it. Just wanted to point out that we will be distributing the official English version which is CE approved. I know from first hand experience and reports from buyers that some customs offices are banning electronic items imported to the EU without CE certificate, so for some that might be a thing to consider.

But of course true Otakus don't hold back because of this, I wouldn't either if I'd want one fast.
We'll also have some stock of the Asian version in the coming week (hopefully since supply is low now).

Picked my Dingoo up from the post office this morning :D :D

At work now so cant do pics or anything till I'm home tonight I'm afraid but it looks like a good sturdy unit.

Box is full English as well which did suprise me slightly.

Typical great service from Deal Xtreme arrived within a week recorded delivery & didnt get hit with customs thankfully ;)

Gonna have a good play about with it tonight & will get some impressions up then :)

Make sure you let us know what the retro stuff runs like and how it looks on a TV. Considering getting one of these but I don't want another gp2x, that thing was kinda crappy.

Well it's currently on charge & has been for the last 3 hours :(

But I've got some pics for you all anyway...

The unit on charge

It did have a little charge when I cracked it out the box & I fired it up very quickly & played about with changing the language to English & had a quick browse of the settings.
It looks like it already comes pre-installed with GBA & Neo Geo Emulators.
The lay out is exactly the same as a PSP menu.
It's quite weighty & has a very sturdy feel, buttons are nice & tight & well laid out.
Screen is nice & bright & very clear...doesnt seem too small which is something I was worried about, will be interested to see how it fares on games like Axelay though when a bigger screen would make it easier to see the bullets etc.

Only downside I've found so far is it takes Mini SD cards which I dont have any of :(
I thought the Mini bit was maybe a mis-print & it meant Micro SD but alas no so I have to go buy a Mini SD adaptor now for my 4GB Micro card :(

Hopefully it'll be finfished charging soon & I'll be able to start playing about properly & give you some better impressions but so far I'm impressed.

Thanks for the pics. Would be interested to know how the screen holds up to fast moving scenes on both games and movies. One of the things I hate about the PSP is the blur effect you get when it moves fast.

I dont know why your worrying about SD cards it has 4 gig builtin which should be enough to sample a bit of everything it has to offer :)

Probably ;)
I've never been one for playing/using things too much on their first charge.

Anywho it's just flashed up a nice big full battery so it's time to play me thinks ;)
