I may sold it around 110 i think :( Maybe to high , maybe to low , i don't know =/ The problem is i don't know if the chance to save it is around 1/10 or near 9/10 :silent:
And therein lies the problem.

It's a risk either way - if you send it off for repair then it might not be repairable if, say, it has a dodgy custom chip.

However, if I (or anyone) was to buy it as faulty then it's a big risk for them too as they may end up with a very expensive piece of useless metal and plastic.

Hey, at least you aren't out much more than shipping for me to look at it. ;)

I put a few hours on it for you trying to bring it back to life.

Can I just confirm, if the battery has started to corrode and the acid is flowering on a board that works 100%, if you clean the PCB well you should be fine right? There's no experiences that directly link a flowered battery with a board death long after the clean and battery removal is there?

I'll be frank; I'm about to buy a DOJ PCB from a trusted seller. The board works fine, but the battery has started to corrode/flower.

kernow wrote:Not sure really, the effect was very similar to cools board when his died and I'm 99% sure his wasn't battery related.

To be honest I think its a load of hype, and thats even with one dying. The reason I think DOJ's are 'dying' *makes quotes with fingers* is because its a slightly different revision PGM board to ketsui and espgaluda, when have you seen a dead ketsui or galuda? I know its common sense to check the batteries every once in a while, but honestly, too much scaremongering going on.

A year or two ago people would just sell these cave PGM boards, and now suddenly its omg have you checked the battery? The battery, how is it? In every bloody sales thread.
Thanks man - that's reassuring! It's good to hear somebody pointing to it being hype when you're a victim of dead DOJ yourself. You'd have every right to say it were the opposite of hype!

Performed the coin battery mod on my Doj before the original battery showed signs of problems, and mine has been running fine for years.
Image

The real question is: If it dies, was the Doj cheap enough to where you can pitch the board and sluff off the loss?

If thoroughly and properly cleaned and neutralized, you should be fine.

Awesome. I don't see why it wouldn't last a long time if you clear up the acid.

Hope you enjoy it!

I installed these in to my Ketsui, DOJ and Galuda boards. If you can't get them (or something similar) locally I could ship one to you.

The thread that keeps on giving...

As long as you insert a credit right after you boot Ketsui (before the demo sequence starts), you will have no problems leaving the battery off. But I can see that being a pain for certain lazy individuals (I joke!). For DOJ and Espgaluda, no ill side-effects other than default settings.

Note to Spadgy: my DOJ battery was flowering, and 2P bomb button failed (I assume it was related). I removed the battery, cleaned it up (re-soldered the bomb button) and it has never given me a problem since. Enjoy your board!

Cheers, I'll have to look into it locally first.
