kernow wrote:Well, I'm either going to have my whistling/breaking up chassis looked at by craig, or buy a new replacement. Does anyone know where I can get a direct new replacement thats the same model, (I stupidly sold my spare one off about a year ago), or will the £135 rodotron666's fit that are on the giz10p site? :|
I'm not a monitor tech, but I was under the impression that the Rodotron 666a was just a re-badged Wei-Ya C3129 (dunno which suffix - think it's a C3129A, but don't quote me on it). My Suzo-Happ Makvision 29" is (not so) secretly a Wei-Ya C3129D under the hood, too.

Also, from what I understand, the letters at the end signify the type of screen (so "D" is the pure flat one, rather than curved). I'll let the boys in the know tell you what that means in terms of geometry problems or no...

EDIT: I just realised you wrote 3192, not 3129 - hopefully that's just a typo, else ignore my post.

chi is spot on,important to find if you have a dual focus crt or a single focus crt-easy to do,take the neck card off and and post a photo of the crt socket-if it has 2 centre pins then its dual focus

imo you need to priove whether its affected by physical manipulation-if so then its something loose or a coil that needs some glue round it-if not then its a frequency whistle or unstable voltage

Just dunk the whole thing in epoxy. The pots are all right, so they don't need changing again :)

I took out the chassis und searched for bad solder joints then I fixed it by adjusting the b+15k poti.
I had to try it 15 times or so, until the scanlines looked good again.
But my picture ist vertically stretched anyway.

i have all the correct voltage readings for the b+ pots-if you have a multimeter and are willing to use it then i will post the info

666a-pdf is equal
you should use mini croc clip leads on the meter, then you connect one to the resistor and one to the frame(dc volts btw) whilst switched off then when you turn on you have the meter displaying the reading and you can sdjust accordingly
obviously set 15k with a 15k board and 31k with a 31k board

remember you are dealing with very high dc volts so be careful, locate either one of those components(r33 better as you have a legs to hook onto) then off yee's go

have you set the meter at the wrong range-remember you will be expecting up to 120 volts so set the dc to 200v
