No. You have to do a stupid calculation to figure out the price you want to display and I don't know who they think they're fooling with 'free to list'. The buyer pays one price and the seller receives 4% and 75p less. What's the point in pretending?
I'm delighted the fees have finally gone back to ~5% though. The fortnightly 3% green light system can't have done them any good. Every non-business seller was listing at the same time and it was annoying having to wait ten days the rest of the time when fees were 13%. Having a system that pushes customers away always seemed bonkers.
I've been wanting it to go back to a constant 5% for years. Shame the **** about face fees spoil the occasion.

Re: Random Thoughts
No, it's pretty ****. I sold some stuff last year i think. It was a very non-transparent and confusing process, took about 2 weeks to receive my money, and i think i needed to confirm an account or something before i was able to even sell. I also needed customerservice for something i don't remember and had the feeling i was speaking to either an AI agent or George from Mumbai through google translate, for some reason it felt even more unpersonal en distopian than it did before.
It cured me from using ebay again for the next couple of years.

The new fee system started this February. Just a guess but your problem last year might have been an account verification to new ToS if you hadn't sold for a while.
For what it's worth ebay Customer Service has been truly excellent since a big change up a few years ago. They're my favourite evil corporation.

Re: Random Thoughts
Yeah I had the same a a while back and it was an pain in the hoop and it was for the exact reason of having not sold for some time on it , they've made changes to win back customers /sellers but I think they drove too many away over the years with their greed and a lot of irreversible damage overall , there was a time ebay was my goto for buying or selling anything and that is rarely the case anymore ,although I have seen some positive feedback on their customer service been vastly improved and alot fairer, i hope i never need to find out !pubjoe wrote: May 14th, 2025, 11:01 pm The new fee system started this February. De-escalate the way of everything these days, blurred in a sea of WTF. A bombardment of national emergencies that's too much to keep up with. You can try and get your head around one day's crazy, you forget the last and then 'oh yeah, Potus restricted the press'.

Much of what comes out of the Oval Office these days is as horrific as it is ridiculous, but I have to say I've found this story most entertaining. It's hilarious to me that two egomaniacs having a Twitter spat is headline news. What a world.
Apparently, Elon's foray into politics has cost him around 100 billion dollars. Only fourteen people have ever had that much money to lose in the first place.

It's a statement that doesn't say much though since much of that is just tied into stock and assets and whatnot. In a sense it's just virtual. If anything he probably gained billions in lucrative contracts, regulations spun in his favor or contracts/regulations of competitors that were axed etc.

Tesla were always going to be in trouble as other EV manufacturers (particularly in China) caught up. Musk has now destroyed the brand's image. I don't see other projects like Teslabot being a success. I think they'll be the Blackberry of car manufacturing in 10 years.
