Newbie friendly shmups
I'm organising retro game events and surprisingly Cyber Core on the PC Engine was a huge hit. I know a bit about shmups, but mostly about PC Engine shmups. So, please share your knowledge. Doesn't have to be games that are easy from start to finish. Just something that people without prior experience can enjoy learning. Anything I can run on the MiSTer FPGA is fine.

Anything that isn't super memo slop should be good (so no psikyo, irem, video system).
I think a big part of the reason that CAVE's games are so popular is that you can get pretty far in them via repeatedly playing full credits without it getting to the point where you want to tear your hair out. So they'd be good for this sort of thing.
Yagawa's games are even better for that, as long as you know the very basics of how the rank works.
1943 could be good, at least until you get to the very end, but that's like 35 minutes into the game so NBD.
Hyper Duel is also quite fun and somewhat easy, incredible soundtrack and presentation, I don't think it's on the mister though.
Hishouzame would be my pick from Toaplan's library.
