Members' Cabs...

There are a few different versions of this cabinet and I'd love to know the production history between them. As they all have 'new' written on them somewhere

There's the 'New Version Body SNK Candy 25' with the yellow marquee artwork. It has a floating style speaker/marquee box, a headphone jack, rotate mech and painted control panel.

Seemed like they came with the 'dong' button layout too.

There's also a 'New Version Body SNK Candy 26' version of this which seems to be identical, along with a table version with the same livery.

Then you've my one where they drop the rotate mech, drop the headphone jack, integrate the speakers into the cabinet a bit more with them jutting forward, leave the control panel exposed steel and change up the livery. (also says 'new')

I thought that was it but then someone on here a few years back posted a combination cabinet of the two. It has the same livery/look to mine, but has the floating flush speakers of the yellow marquee one along with a bezel that has the SNK logo.

Interesting to see it go through so many versions before the U4 came along.

I sold the Candy 25 to buy a Miele washing machine for my wife when she got pregnant and we moved to a new apartment.
I kept my Astros and NNCs because of the larger monitor, but I loved my Candy 25.

The U4/33 will by my grail for sure though

I was just looking up the weight of the U4/33 - 145kg! Absolute monster of a thing.

There really are very few photos of it online so it would be great if you could absolutely spam us with images once it arrives

Entirely agree. To be fair though, manually rotating the 29” screen on a Windy II really isn’t that bad, and you don’t rotate screens super regularly.

I do like a headphone socket on a cab though…

I had this one, but it had the rotation mech.

Test fitted the Sanwa OOM-8 control panel. Vast improvement in comfort, so made up the wiring loom to adapt it (easily swappable with the existing CPs). Couldn't live with it in white, so one respray later... I think it's nice! The cab is at it's maximum height given the levellers and legs, and is great with either a 43cm or 48cm stool. Currently running The NewZealand Story, though I'm tempted to go with a MiSTer to use the extra button

I picked up 2 of those monitors, and it's something I've been pondering on - upsizing the monitor in one of my cocktails. Just need to find a bezel to suit

Do it if you get the chance, the picture on them is lovely. I put one in my cocktail that was completely missing the monitor.

Reminds me I need to revisit the bezel and try and work something out. I did a temporary solution using black foam card. I'll let you know if I sort something that's a bit more professional.

I always think I want a cocktail, and examples like this and Cools table make me think it all the more.

In real life I’ve got not good case to get one. Maybe one day, if I get a decent sized place…

Mine is in storage at the mo, so cant get a current photo, but this is the latest photo I can find from when i was refurbishing it.

Wouldn't stress too much over making a flush bezel, so long as you're hiding all the metalwork.

More important is getting the decorative lock rings fitted.

After being shamed by Mozie (!) for a dirty SNK marquee I decided to see if I could clean it up.

Spent an hour with some white vinegar and after making my house smell like a chip shop it looked incredibly clean.

Put it back in, switched the cab on and with a bit of light through it...still looks a mess.

Decided to up my game and bought a Novus three step acrylic / plastic scratch removal and cleaning kit.

First application gets deep scratches out, second one light surface scratches and final applications buffs it and puts a protective coating on it.

Still some of the deeper scratches but it seems it was all the light surface scratches which were ruining the clarity. The light is passing through it far better now.

I was happy without the marquee holder when I had the cab. Loved the simple design.
Also not using my holders on the NACs. Only for NNCs.

I know what you mean, they definitely fit into a house far better without them. Much neater looking. I've actually had them absent for most of the 10 years I've had the cabinets. (probably why I'm only trying to fix this one now actually! )

The room feels a bit more arcade-y with them in though so that's my flavour of the month at the moment.

Yeah I'd agree with the cabinets you have, I am not a fan of them on the NACs, they look far better without. NNC it's mandatory to have on though.

I think toppers can look good on candies (in certain rooms) if you actually run the board with the full art/move strip kits. If I had a bunch of cabs I would probably not bother, that's expensive as hell dropping $70 per cab.

I recently got one after a lifetime of not having any, and I like bouncing an LED light off the back up through the topper.

I've rarely bothered with them but my thinking is the opposite. If you have a cab or two in a normal house they look cleaner without marquee holders. But if you're already balls deep in homecade, **** it. Painful cost though, yeah.

think some cabs it should be arcade law that they have to run their marquee holders ,windys e29 spring to mind and id go with aero or any that shines some light up through it ...rest e2 astro etc not a huge difference if there or not but nice to have something there every now and again i suppose !

Windy marquees are old, brittle, and impossibly shaped for repros…
