Re: CAVE CV1000 Bootlegs
Apparently identical according to the Arcade Projects folks.
The seller even listed the DSMBL as being glitchy in 999 mode (play every level in 999 mode), which is exactly how the retail PCB acts:

Re: CAVE CV1000 Bootlegs
Probably impossible to say, but is it likely/unlikely these fall further in price?
No way would I be in at the current price...but €400-500 might be tempting

Would love to know what the manufacture cost is of these. I'd say the cost versus price ratio must be off the charts at the moment.

Re: CAVE CV1000 Bootlegs
$100-$200 in parts per board. Add some more for labor and manufacturing costs (let's say $100). Then add $700+ in illegal profit off of CAVE's copyrighted software.o1s1n wrote: June 13th, 2024, 12:20 pm Would love to know what the manufacture cost is of these. Re: CAVE CV1000 Bootlegs
There was always an assumption that the parts for producing CV1000 boards had dried up (specifically the Hitachi SH-3). It's a wonder CAVE didn't look at todays inflated PCB prices and consider producing some more limited edition runs to make a quick buck.

Re: CAVE CV1000 Bootlegs
I wish cave still manufacture these boards so we will be able to buy directly from them. But for the moment that is not the case and if you want to play these games perfectly, either you buy this or you sell your car to buy a second hand 5k€ DFK BL.EOJ wrote: June 14th, 2024, 12:59 am$100-$200 in parts per board. And in neither of those cases Cave is getting any single penny out of the operation.

Piracy is certainly a supply issue in this case.

Re: CAVE CV1000 Bootlegs
These things are such a stupid purchase for a collector, you literally have zero quality assurance, thing could drop dead after a year and have fun trouble shooting and trying to fix a $1k paper weight. Best to play it as fast as you can and flip it for the bulk of what you shelled out. Not much value in such a thing. I used to buy a few boots and conversions back in the day, and it wasn't a tragedy having a $50 MVS boot die, or even a $150 CPS conversion, but spending this dough on one board is lunacy. Even at $400 I would be hesitant to test one out. As dumb as Exa pricing is at least it's official licensed stuff and you have someone to stand behind your purchase for the time being and service what you buy from them. It's crazy how easy it is to fleece gamers still in 2024

Re: CAVE CV1000 Bootlegs
^100% this if Cave offered these then there would be people to buy them.
If they still did official merchandise in small runs people would still buy it too. Like the CV1000 print tees they did.

Re: CAVE CV1000 Bootlegs
Technically illegal of course. No one could lose that argument.
The software is £6-25 on Steam for version bundles of each ancient title.
This is 100% for the hardware repro, obviously.
The barrier of entry on these things! It's only a slither of hardcore fans that would even consider these.
No, but they're never going to fill this weird superniche so it really makes zero difference to them.
They're probably the most interesting example of technicality versus actual damage. The "yes they're illegal, but..".
It's purely a second hand market far removed from Cave that's possibly affected.

Re: CAVE CV1000 Bootlegs
I was taking the **** a bit. Cave sure could tap into their fan market a bit more as you say. I'm sure their employes know 100% how the market for their former products look, and what the fans say and think. But they run their train according to their business model the board decides. No room for old stuff.

Re: CAVE CV1000 Bootlegs
I was just thinking about to buy my holy gray SDOJ PCB when one kit showed up in the last days for about 5k (F**** i'm getting stupind thinking about spending so much money on a game). Luckily i stumbled over this thread today and ordered a SDOJ and DDP BL. SDOJ is one of the last PCBs i'm missing in my Cave collection and i absolutely love this game. So i couldn't be happier to spend that money on a copy instead of paying a fortune. I don't give a """" that it's a copy if it plays 1:1. It's also "fresh" with new caps etc. I would also love to have Cave Multis comming to market

Re: CAVE CV1000 Bootlegs
I'd love to see mini-multis. Version/label compilations of a single title like Cave do with the steam and console ports.
Much easier to produce (no board revision differences) and they wouldn't cannibalise their own single game sales like a full multi would. They'd be a comparatively easy sell for the money.

Re: CAVE CV1000 Bootlegs
Thanks for the info. Really can't wait even i can also play it with my XBOX360 connected to the Cab or on MAME on the Cab, but that's not the same like pluging in the holy grail PCB.Neo'nate wrote: November 3rd, 2024, 3:24 pmI was/am exactly the same.
