I’ve no idea where to post this?!

It certainly deserves better than ‘gallery of ****’, but he’s still made it look like a 13 year old’s MS wet dream:-

It’s got a legit PVM in it, it’s *NOT* MAME but is using MiSTer, which certainly for Neo Geo is indistinguishable from real hardware.
It’s clearly well made.
I’m not sure why not just use or refurb a legit cab. They aren’t rare, but if you really want to build your own he’s done a lot right.

I think it’s just the hideous wrap that’s offending me so much… but it really is offending me!!

I'm a huge Metal Slug fan like yourself and even I wouldn't have that in my house.

Really do appreciate the MiSTer and sticking a PVM in it but it does fall short at the actual cabinet design itself.

As you said, the artwork is just too much. Cabinets like this remind me of children's bedrooms with crazy wallpaper on the walls. I had Dinosaur wallpaper myself when I was 8 or 9 but not so much when I'm 40.

I honestly don’t find much difference at all. My U4 has a ball top, and my Electrocoin MVS has bat tops, and I’m decent at MS on both (I only use MS as the example because it’s literally the only game I’m good enough at that the sticks really can make a difference!)
They’re both short throw, and the heaviest spring I can find for each.

However, I’ve also got one of the Sigma supergun sticks, basically NOS with a JLF with a ball top, standard throw and spring (too long and too weak in my opinion).
I’m not nearly as consistent with that stick.

I think you’ve asked this before? I’ll send you a bat top. Try it out, I think you’ll be surprised!

I always associate bat tops as having really stiff springs and a quick snap back to centre. Like they're made to take a tonne of abuse.

Haha I think I have asked before, been to quite a few Asian arcades and it’s always ball tops, cannot quite imagine how for example you do a special in KOf, quarter turn forward - half turn back while gripping a bat!

I grew up with Neo Geo sticks which again had a ball, so with a bat is it like grabbing the handle bars on a bike?

Do you grip under the ball? :fastlove:

I’ve always gripped on top, so it makes little difference to me.
There’s a good chance I’ve never learnt to hold a shaft correctly… :hinthint:

Do we perhaps need a dedicated thread showing off how we all grip our shafts?

No matter how I'm holding the stick, if I'm not quite getting there, I tickle the coin return until I can. Works every time.
