Hi guys - I am restoring a Niaomi universal and have 2 control panels. I have questions on both if someone could help.... First pic is the one with the 4 orange circles, why are there annoying round holes here?? i wanted to cover the panel with some nice art however im mindful there will be dips where those holes are.... Secondly, this other control panel i have show shows the underside of a joystick hole - what is this adapter plate thing? what sticks are compatible with this plate?? thank you everyone

Re: 2 questions on these control panels
The panel with the mount plate spot welded to it looks like the ones I was making and selling a couple of years ago (as i put a slotted hole for joystick alignment). It is designed to take the Sawna JLF with no adapter plate like this:Floodie wrote: December 12th, 2023, 10:24 am Hi guys - I am restoring a Niaomi universal and have 2 control panels. Re: 2 questions on these control panels
Hi Davey - ah right ok - I quite like JLFs feel good for SF. Thats quite good to know as i would rather use this panel due to the other one having those 4 annoying holes drilled into it... So with only 2 mounting holes does the stick feel secure enough?? usually ive used 4 mounts
Out of interest, im new to Naomis - What sticks came standard with them?

With a properly thick laminated overlay those holes wont be a problem

LS-55 can be fitted on any panel that takes a JLF without a mounting plate. You need the VF mounting plate.
Applies also to LS-33, 56, 58, 60 and 62.

Re: 2 questions on these control panels
Really? So with that panel where i have that welded on bracket i can fit an ls-55? Ive taken a look and cant see how from the pics. Edit: sorry just seen a vf mounting plate. Yes youre right. So back to my original question, are 2 mounting bolts good enough for a stick? Ive always used 4?nem wrote: December 12th, 2023, 9:26 pmFloodie wrote: December 12th, 2023, 5:36 pm Ah ok - thanks.. Re: 2 questions on these control panels
Yes, 2 hole mount is fine. The original sega HOT-2005 panel has 2 hole mount for the sanwa stick

Re: 2 questions on these control panels
Potentially yes, depends how thick the panel itself is. Original Sega overlays tend to be pretty beefy.Floodie wrote: December 13th, 2023, 12:23 amYeh i did wonder that however wouldnt ot also mean the control panel is raise up almost 1mm and have a kind of rim all around the perimeter?. You could always fill the holes with epoxy instead
