Re: Konami Windy Mk~1 ~ Refresh ~
I always expect Windy cabs to be running a Parodius board or something matches the colorway. So they stick the speaker drivers right up against the bezel? Looks clean as **** tidied up

8~Ohm and sound ace....was always impressed with W1 speakers...sound fired down an acoustic tube~ the bezel is slotted with a perforated plate behind that...i'll show it once that piece is completed.. Parodius!?...you're joking

In my opinion The Windy is one of the firm favourites for tate'd STG's...
Alias my first one ran THREE Dangun feveron + GUwange + ESP-ra-de.
Then removed them for KETSUI/DDPDOJ/ESPgaluda....far better!.

Re: Konami Windy Mk~1 ~ Refresh ~
BUT this one is going to run Horizontal....hopefully i can cram two of my all time favourites in there....as they are CPs2.
Will run Via a riddled TV jamma switcher...as both cps2 once screen is adjusted it will cater for both so no faffing around adjusting each time a title is selected.
Another panel done last week...on with the main monitor surround now...almost there!
Konami pearl please..
I paid special attention to spraying each part...so to avoid over spray on the insides..everything is meticulousley masked off...time consuming but desired for a factory finish.
The tabacco build up on the inside of this machine was phenominal!!...i used G101 detergent came off very easy...It would have stunk previously once its been on awhile lol!...awful..
This time is will smell like new...as its 2k paint, once cured there is zero odour... + it will never fade, ever...even in direct sunlight.
Right i'm off to play Last Resort on my Super Neo 29!!...its a cardinal sin to play MVS titles on anything else right!

Re: Konami Windy Mk~1 ~ Refresh ~
Cheers!..
Mix ratio is 1:1 with those paints with required flash thinners.... Clearcoat/final is mixed 2:1/hardner + thinners @ 10% really according to temp of spray booth.. Mines at 25 +degrees when up to temp... So perfect.
Tonight I finished spraying the monitor facia.. I'm now left with the control panel.. 'easy part'... & the three metal front doors.. That's it.
I've only just come in the house 30 mins ago from spraying!.. Its flashed off and dry to touch.. 24hrs to harden.

Re: Konami Windy Mk ~1 ~ Refresh ~
Another fine job thus far, good on ya. Alberto and myself worked on a repro panel a few years back that had a pearlescent effect (top CP in the pic) (a 1 player panel)
It looked pretty cool, but was a bit too white and blingy to go on my slightly aged and yellowed cab. I might just try to tempt you with that prototype on your spanky new cab once it's up and running

Re: Konami Windy Mk ~1 ~ Refresh ~
Good evening...well with the weekened well under way i'm Bang at it again.
Three Panels prepped ,primed + ready for painting tomorrow!..did not take a photo of those , but i'm in the garage later to work on that chassis for the Windy.
Here's where its at as of tonight...monitor facia sat in other room, i want to re-fit the monitor first before i fit that...just easier.
Just having a bacon butty & pot of tea!. See the base internal yellowing in the centre...even after cleaning ' i could have peroxide treated that...but how far do you go!..besides when the pcb support panel goes in you will never see it anyway.
Its leaps & bounds where it was before though
All metals have come up 'as-new' with just G101 cleaner...they were caked in Nicotine!!..thankfully no rusted parts.
It'll be a nice clean + Fresh Candy when it comes to fruition.

I masked off & kept the original Serial decal here~
A couple on back of the cab were retained too.. All other decals/stickers are readily available for these Cabs...and the quality is second to none.
Special mention here to Barry Buise @ Arcade Art Repro.com

Did you recap your power supply? Thinking if doing mine although the voltages are spot on,
Great work you are doing there, well done.

Good evening Steve...thegreathopper wrote: October 28th, 2023, 9:39 pm Did you recap your power supply? Thinking if doing mine although the voltages are spot on,

I checked the caps in the power supply all servicable & no leaks~bulges etc.
Dusted / cleaned only....if i have any problems with my Cps2's 'i'm fitting with the riddled switcher'...then i will replace them. don't think i will though.
So...re: chassis --all wiring neatly extended to the remote pcb adjuster~ equal lengths.
These panels were sanded ~ 80 to 400~1200..then BARCOTE 'orange in colour~ so then a HIGH-build primer is sprayed on 'in these photo's..
Tomorrow these will be WET sanded smooth 1500~2000 paper & then cleaned/dried & three stage painted.
Its quite a process with Pearls.
Reason for barcote is to stop any reaction to new paint being put on...saves time and money~ if you get a bad paint reaction it turns into a major male chicken-up of mass proportions. barcote seals the complete panel adhere's to the surface for a perfect start every time.
So here ..these are sat in high~build white only-ready to wet sand tomorrow!.

Re: Konami Windy Mk ~1 ~ Refresh ~
Time for a little update...Although its almost finished~ its 99% completed...but i'm actually using it now!
.
So here are what i got up to for the last 13 days...& by golly, has it been a journey..its all Gravy now.
For the record i found a few faults on the chassis, i'm ultra careful- it was boxed up and stored in a safe /dry place...
On inspection I found some poor wiring/connectors but quite a few dry joints~ + loose Caps..all rectified now & a deep clean turning it into a pretty dirt /dust free part!..
Now looks like new...+ clean as a whistle.
Here's my work...all completed!
As good as my First Windy restore was...there were so many things i did wrong...& the correct colour was one of them...although back then i didn't have much money..'just bought a house!' & it was really just abit of fun to restore a tatty old candy...
Thinking back...it was done 100% ..paint went on like glass...albeit wrong colour + i opted for polished hinges..took me ages to complete that restore + so i think that Windy Joe has is indeed a 'Neo-gold' One-off''...
These hinges are correctly colour coded....
I would like to say that i really do put my heart+ soul into every part...even the parts on the insides you cannot even see...if its not right & i know about it...i simply cannot sleep until its 100% right/ or passes my own quality control!!...i like to be consistant & meticulous in my work, nothing is rushed.
