They hold the remote board.
I've also seen the remote boards attached to the frame with them.

I see. So the New Astro let us the choice to keep the remote on the chassis or hold it under the CP?

ms9 also used on many other cabs, they have different wiring and connectors than astro or new astro, some hold the remote board at the back.
